Well, this link to the GM site shows a small pic of a 2003 Victory Red 2500 Avalanche, clearly with the darker cladding. Boy, do I wish we had that on our black 2002 Z66!

And, guess what?! To those of you who had mentioned wishing it was available, Yellow will be available!!! It'll be the third new color in addition to the Gray and Blue, but with "Interim" availability.

Enjoy!:

Reading the product info pdf, it looks like they are addressing the poor brake feel problem. Too bad they won't help me with mine on my 02.

What? I thought there was an option to not have cladding on the 2003 - that's what my dealer told me...sheeze...you mean that Avalanche site knew what was going on?

What's the world coming too!

Go to this address. It will let you register the club as a member of the media and get detailed photos of the new 2003 AV. You need to do this for the club.

Go to the photo section.

I don?t know about the rest of you guys but if I was in the dilemma of waiting for the 2003 or buying now, the ?new features? just aren?t worth the wait.

Cladding couple tones darker...big deal, Satellite radio, rear DVD player, Yellow on black cadding...cmon!

Plus... Did anyone know that many..MANY of our current standard equipment , are OPTIONAL on ?03?

Think about that...

One final word! only good thing about modelyear changes... Clearance deals on the previous model!

Cant wait to trade in the 02 for the 03!

Avys rule!Peace

I don't have any plans to trade in my '02 for a '03 but I do know that as soon as my dealer has a '03 on the lot I'm heading over there to check it out.

What is the main thing you like about the 2003, that caused you to day, I can't wait to trade in for the 2003?

Just curious.

I am waiting for the 2003 myself.

Like the old saying goes, you may not always be right, but you are never wrong.

Power folding mirrors/turn signals on the mirrors/bigger alternator/ and of course a few other options mentioned in this news release MAKES YOU THINK SOMEONE AT CHEVROLET HAS BEEN VISITING OUR SITE ;D
Did not see mention of including transmission temp gauge on the 1500 model. dissapointing since the hookups are already there.......oh well, perfection takes them time and we have to do the rest ourselves >:D

I have that new steering wheel and trip computer setup in my new trailblazer. It is pretty nice.

I can understand why a lot of you with '02s are happy with your purchases and there may not be much added value to some of the "enhancements" for the '03s. There have been some very good points made in this and other topics about being happy with your '02.

However, with all of the great '03 info posted now, I am interested in learning more about things like Stabilitrak, the interior "facelift", the multi-zone climate control, etc. I think, mostly due to getting my $ in order, this is going to be a long process for me. Unless I end up getting a used Av, I will probably be getting an '03. That is, unless, there is a deal-of-the-century '02 at the end of summers/beginning of fall.

Reasons to wait for the 2003:

1) It's a 2003! Not the first year model.
2) Power retractable camper mirrors.
3) Better Stereo.
4) Better looking cladding.
5) There are no 2002's left with the options that I want. There are some close but I would be paying $1000+ for options like bucket seats, leather and a roof rack that I don't want.

Rich,

Here is some info on StabiliTrak:

"StabiliTrak is a vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) that improves vehicle stability on various road surfaces at various speeds, particularly on slick surfaces or during emergency maneuvers. It is available on the half-ton, two-wheel-drive Avalanche with the Vortec 5300 5.3L V8 engine for 2003.

StabiliTrak maximizes handling and braking dynamics by using a combination of systems and sensors including antilock brakes, traction control and electronic suspension. An array of sensors continually monitors the driver's intended vehicle path, measuring steering angle, wheel speed, brake pressure, lateral acceleration, longitudinal acceleration and yaw rate. This information is provided to an electronic control module that continually monitors vehicle dynamics and is programmed for intervention thresholds.

The system intervenes when it senses one or more of the wheels slipping, loss of lateral traction (side slip), or detects understeer ("snow-plowing") or oversteer (fish-tailing). Automatically, the system adjusts engine torque or brake pressure at individual wheels to help steer the vehicle in the intended path."

It'll match your Neon a little better . . . huh Goo.

The nice thing I see about the new year model changes are the new Mods we will have open to us >:D

I've only had my AV a month now but, there is no way I'm trading my baby in on some things I can transplant

Just my 2 cents,

IM

I would take a serious look at transplanting that steering wheel. I've already flushed the single CD for a JVC with a 12 pack under the back seat but would still like steering controls ;D

The Avalanche interior is gettng a new facelit, does that means the Caddilac Escalade EXT interior is going to get a new facelit?
