Here is the order info from my dealer showing the standard equipment and options for the 2003 AV as of 5/14/2002. This will be in 4 seperate posts (the files are too large to send all at once)

This is the 2WD the 4WD will follow...

Note - The first few pages of each set are just mock orders so that the options could be printed.

TONY! This is HUGE intelligence! >:D :B:

Where on earth did you get this?!?!

See a lot of the features I wished was in my 2002 (rear seat audio, dual zone climate control, steering wheel audio controls and power folding mirrors) made it to the 2003. The rumors of a claddingless Av for 2003 appears unfounded - although the color change to dark gray is true (hmmmm, wonder how much a swap out would be or find a 2003 owner who wants the light gray...hmmmmmmm).

Big big big big big - also saw a couple lines had prices - leather seat going down and you don't need leather to get butt bakers. Oh ya, and a DVD theater for those in back. Side air bags as an option as well as the trailer hitch - yup that has Lutz written all over it. Still some of the other goodies - sigh.

Great, great, great, great work! You heard it here first folks! ;D

Got this from the dealer that I ordered the 2003 from yesterday. The cladding is due to be optional mid year, as well as stabillitrac. Also note the Northface edition has new dark grey colored seats. The dealer warned me that these specs can be changed by Chevy at any time but as of right now they can be ordered this way. This is directly from the dealer order system.

 Ohhhhh I cant wait to get home to print this info. As u can tell I am waiting for the 2003 to come out and already I like what Im hearing bout the 2003 ;D..I also think the darker cladding would look better. This is better than sex....er...u gotta see my wife :9:

I echo the thanks. Much appreciated. Some very interesting reading in there, almost too much to comment on. Did I miss seeing sport leather? Sunroof must come with conv. pckg, standard cladding, XM radio, Bose system, still no 6.0. Lots to digest. Thanks again.

Forgot to mention; These specs are for the 1500, the 2500 specs are quite different.

Man, this is a great site. Not even close to December and I already know what I want for Christmas.

I couldn't find a 2002 2500 on any of the lots in the color/configuration I wanted, so I tried placing an order for one a couple weeks ago. The computer spit the order back out... 2002s are still in production but the number yet to be built are all allocated already. So boys and girls, take what's on the lot or wait for the 2003 like me.

Anyway, since my order got spit back out at me, the dealer came back with the options for the 2003 for me. It's all in the GM Autobook (available at your dealer). You can build one on paper, configure all of your options and all that good stuff, just no prices yet. My auto broker expects that pricing should be out around the beginning of June but a local dealer said July. The manufacturing line starts the 2003 around the beginning of August with the first units hitting the dealers around the end of August. They generally start with Texas first, then work their way north.

So I've got all of the options for the 2003 2500 if anyone is interested. Or your local dealer can certainly provide them. Deep tinted glass is standard on the 2500, etc. The blue that replaced Indigo is listed as "Arrival Blue Metallic".

As mentioned earlier, dealers are ordering their allocations now. If you don't mind knowing what the exact price will be, you can talk with your dealer about ordering a 2003 if that's what you want. I'm told the price increase from year to year typically ends up being about 3%.

Great info! ?Sounds to me that the changes are similar to what I have in the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ. ?I've have the rear seat audio, 8 Speaker Bose, turn signals on the mirrors, steering wheel controls and the new message center that tells you everything including how many miles until empty. ?They made some great changes and I am sure that more will follow in the comming years. ?Who knows what will be in store when I pick up my new Avalanche in October of 2006!

Not sure if I am a fan of the darker cladding. ?I know that I would not have gotten Victory Red without the lighter cladding and painted all red would be to much. ?I was really hoping for the 6.0 liter. ?Then maybe I would try to talk the wife into swapping for a 2003. ?Any word on 2006......? ?

What would life be like without a Chevy Avalanche?

Chevy Nut ?:B:

Thanks for the information.... I stopped at a dealer the other day and asked if they had any information on the 2003 models and when they were expected.... he looked at me like I was nuts and couldn't expect them to know now....

As for starting in TX -- seems like a powerful 4x4 would start here up north (PA) where snow makes it a useful machine as much as a showie one.....

If all the allocations are out... guess my hopes of a year end deal are slim..... but I will still hope and look for a source of funds for one.....

What is different for the 2003 2500 other than the differences this year? Do they have the electric extending camper/trailer mirrors? The dealers around here (Sactamento) are a bunch of bone heads ???. They have no clue as to what is coming. I keep refering them to this site. :B:

If your dealer is telling you they don't know anything about the 2003 models, they're full of it. It's in the GM Autobook and all the dealers have it. If they say they don't know about it, tell them they better fire that computer program up and learn about it darn quick if they want your business. They're BSing you. They're ordering their 2003s for arrival at the end of August right now. They darn well know what's coming for 2003.

In the meantime, they obviously want to get the 2002s off the lot. They're not going to voluntarily come forward with information that would keep you from buying a 2002 off their lot right now, you're going to have to beat it out of them. And even though you can't custom order a 2002 anymore, you can still get a great deal on one if you find one on the lot that you like. The $2002 rebate brings the price of a loaded 2500 to just above $33K, a very attractive price. My only problem is that I want a bench seat and no sunroof. (Need a place to mount radios and antennas.) :)

As for the question about the mirrors, the 2500 option sheet lists option "DPF" as "CAMPER-STYLE HEATER PWR MIRRORS" but I have absolutely no idea what that means.

A local dealer said they were expecting the 2003 Avalanche brochure to come out around the end of May, prices in July.

I have spent a bunch of time tonight reading about the changes and what peoples wish lists are. Here is the one thing that should be real simple to do that I have not seen anyone mention yet.

Make those damn rear seat backs fold without having to flip the bottoms. Would be MUCH easier to just take out the damn rear window for warm weather cruising. I am a network engineer and I carry my laptop and a small toolbag with me in the back seat. I have to empty the backseat to just drop the window. Not that it's a lot, but still would be so much more convienent. Would be so much nicer to just get up in the back, fold the seats down on ur legs a bit and drop the window.

Other than that, if these are the real changes, I am glad I went with the 02 already. The deletes and equipment changes plus the price increase, IMO, makes the 02 a great deal. There are a lot of cool features that Id like, but like what some others have said. I'll wait for the EVEN BETTER 200? (whenever I decide to part with my favorite truck) chevy trucks

The dealer I use is in Texas, he has over 70 2002's still on the lot. Between now and the time the 2003's arrive, the 2002 is going to have discounts and incentive financing available to try to move them. They won't have much trouble here, in Houston truck sales outdo car sales by a good margin.

Tony . . . This is a goldmine! Thanks for digging it up and posting it for us.

There's a lot of neat stuff here - a lot I like, some that I didn't see - such as the auxillary tape player being available (maybe cassettes are obsolete, but not for kids entertainment!)

But, what a modder's paradise! I want the DVD system, the power mirrors, and the message center!

Hey VanDevere - can you get new model parts before the model vehicles come out?

Yea, I went to that place I think. Good prices are advertised but they are d*mn near unethical with bait and switch.

In addition they usually peel the window sticker off, add a bunch of crap like paint and carpet protection, tack on $1600 and put their own sticker on it.

No thanks. Too much high pressure anyway.

Sorry,

You got the wrong place; they did not haggle, or play games. I told them I was with the Credit Union and wanted to speak with the fleet manager, He told me to find what I wanted on the lot or they will order it for me. The price would be a couple of hundred over dealer invoice. You know, come to think of it I did not even have to meet the floor manager, and until I ordered the vehicle, they never asked me for my name or personal information like some dealerships do before you even look at vehicles. This dealership was similar to the last 8 I have purchased from, if you know the system it is easy to buy without the stupid sales games.
