Anyone have any words or pics what they are gonna change in 2003?

I am curious.

I've been trying to keep an eye out for this, but I have yet to hear any words on this....I'm assuming any enhancements being made will be made to the interior..I don't think Chevy will make any changes to the skin...especially if the cladding and such is being well received by the public....

Maybe some added features like the steering wheel radio controls, something along those lines.

RAYOVAC

I read them but does this mean all the new things for the 'Rado will be implemented on the 2003 Avalanche?

I saw a small blurb on the second page about the other trucks and it stated improvements to the interior. Just curious.

The styling changes for 2003 are readily apparent in Silverado?s aerodynamically-styled hood, which displays a sense of power and strength. The front-end lighting system features redesigned headlamps, park-turn signals and daytime running lamps.

The machined look of the large mid-grille band creates an aggressive look and is smoothly integrated into the front end. Ruggedness is portrayed through the front tow hooks and fog lamps recessed into the front bumper. Uplevel bumpers retain the traditional chrome appearance.

?The entire front fascia of the vehicle is flush-mounted to the body, creating a smooth look and reducing body gaps,? added Cafaro. ?Premium, internal-aim headlamps add to the seamless fashion of the Silverado. Their lenses and housing are fixed to the body so that only the inside lamp parabolas are adjustable.?

OK, now call me stupid but that front end is right off of a 2500 series Avalanche with a chrome bumper on it. Funny how folks whine about the Avalanche styling when it appears the General is putting the entire front clip of the Av on it's entire 2003 lineup!!!

The entire GMT800 platform (full size C/K) is receiving the interior updates, so expect to see the new interiors in the Avalanche for 2003. The front end of the new Silverados is based on the Avalanche, but it isn't exactly the same. The hood is identical, but the fenders are different, as are the headlights, grille and marker lights. If you look closely, you'll see the differences.

my bet is quadra-steer will make it as an option, although I have not seen any mention of it. I wanted this option with my Av but broke down and got it this year.

Nate

I do not see much difference other than the bumper and below. The lights might be a tad different but not too much.

Nate:

Vice-Chair Lutz has said in an interview no quadrasteer for Avalanche because it handles fine without it.

ygmn: There are some definite differences between 03 Silverado and Avalanche. The fender on the 03 Silverado has a longer nose to it and the front edge is nearly vertical, where the nose of the Av fender is laid back more. Also, the big difference in lights is: Av has marker lights above and headlights below, with DRLs in the bumper, while the 03 Silverado has headlights above, markers below with the DRLs alongside the marker lights. The difference in the grill is subtle, but it's noticable. Not trying to stir things up...just trying to point out the differences.

YGMN,

I know this has kind of been answered, but....

In all of my 2003 research so far in regards to the Avalanche.... I have found a number of references and news blurbs from GM stating specifically that the AV would be included (as LoClass stated) in the planned upgrades.

I have not been able to find any data supporting wether the AV will be opted with the Quad-Steer... also there are braking improvments that I find mentioned in some areas but not in others. Sooooo... I also question whether we will actually see the braking improvements across all the models.

You guys have gotten me pretty excited about a new AV. The changes for 2003 appear to give me the inside amenities that I have in my 99 EB Expedition... And MORE!!!! ;D

Counting the days until the 03 release....

As I've stated in another post (but it's OK - with 4,000 plus posts in less than two months it's impossible to keep track) Vice Chairman Lutz has already said no Quadrasteer for Avalanche. The reason for this is relatively speaking the Avalanche already has a dimunitive turning diameter of 43 feet (for a vehicle it's size). Quadrasteer would put it under 37 feet, which is getting into the realm of Honda Accord - very cool, but for $3,500 Lutz feels not needed. Further they feel that Avalanche handles and rides so well, it just wouldn't gain much lateral or straight-line benefit.

In other words the folks that worked on the Av in the first place REALLY did their homework.

Have to admit I'm a tad heart broken to see that steering wheel audio controls, a real climate control system, and other enhancements will find their way into the 2003 model. Still I love my Av!!! ;D ;D ;D

Well, although I hope the news that all of you has posted comes true (even the quadra steer), but when it comes down to it, we are pretty much going to have to wait till they come out, to see what is in them. (unless GM wants to be kind enough to post some actual news regarding the new Avalanche).

I have seen with many cars that I have owned, that usually 90% of info about the next model year, are greatly exagerated, unless a known complete redesign is on the way.

Oh well, here is to hoping

There is suppose to be Phase II introduced, which deals with the cladding. The lower color will be a DARKER GREY. The West coast crowd DID NOT like the current color. And possibly a Phase III on which NO cladding exists. Monochrome colors instead. Also the NEW 2003 Silverado interiors to ALSO be in the 2003 Avalanche.
