Hi all, I was all set to purchase a 2004 AV on tuesday before the current incentives expire. But I noticed on your site that a 3.42 rear axle ratio will be available on the 05 AV. My question is I drive about 70 % of the time on the highway and 30% city driving and ocasional light towing 3000lbs or less, how much improvement in MPG can I expect with the higher axle ratio as opossed to the currently available 3.73's? I work for a GM supplier is there a set dollar value off the sticker price, also I am noticing some members are getting the GMS discount off the invoice price, my local dealer told me GMS is $4779.00 off the sticker of $42000.00 and thats it, does this sound correct?
Thanks
JP

I can't help you with the ratio thing since my 3.73's are fine and if anything , I'd want the 4.10's since fuel economy is second to power in my book.

The GMS price doesn't sound right. I bought mine for around $9K off sticker (before taxes, etc.) and I have no connections, just a guy off the street. I'd ask around a little more and try a different dealer since it doesn't sound like you're getting much of a deal.
Good luck and welcome aboard.

I can't comment on the rear ratio either

But, nope, that GMS price doesn't sound right. I got about that much off mine and it "only" stickered for about $35K.

The GMS price sounds about right, GM employee discount on a 43,000 Av is about 5500 to 6000. Add the initial rebate of 3500 plus the truckfest cash and you have a discount around 10,000. Add any trade in value, Gm credit card earning and any other bonus cash GM is giving away and the amount will steadily climb. Important thing is, get the Truck you want and can afford so you can enjoy the ride.

With the GM In the Driveway Certificate and the $3500 rebate plus $1000 bonus rebate I got about $10,000.00 off the Sticker. I was pleased! (y) :B:

If he's getting the $4779 discount PLUS the $3500 rebate PLUS the truckfest cash, he would be around $9200 off which would sound right but he said " my local dealer told me GMS is $4779.00 off the sticker of $42000.00 and that's it." " which leads me to believe that they want to keep the rebates and that would be incorrect, no?

If you look around here, most people with GMS get right around $10K off before adding tax. If you get there, within a few hundred or so, I'd say you did pretty well.
