I have a 2004 Chevy avalanche I bought 20x9  +18mm  offset rims I have 27/55r20 on them now... I want the tire to be more mudding look or better stance. I?m debating on getting used 18 inch rims or does anyone know will wheel spacers give me a better stance with mud look? Or would going to 33x12.5R20 make it look better. I?m just lost on what to do.

Lots of things to consider once you start changing parts from stock. If you deviate too much from stock you can affect axle and suspension parts and increase wear and tear. Then with wider tires you may affect gas mileage and stopping ability as well as rubbing issues, with larger diameter tires you also affect odometer and speedometer so you may have to get them re-calibrated.
Good thing about using larger rims is if you stay above 17" rims you can do the brake conversion from small brakes in first gen AVs and switch to second gen AV larger brakes. You can read about the conversion in the brake section.
For selecting tires and rims you can get lots of info from reading older threads on this site or even look at sites like https://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/homepage.html

Good luck with your search for the setup best for your budget and needs.
