2004 service 4x4 light on

I have a 2002 z66 av and my dad has a 2004 z71 av. He got his about 2 months ago, at about 3,000 miles his service four wheel drive came on his escreen. He brought it into the dealership and they told him that they do not know what the problem with it is and it has happened to several others according to gm. They told him that they dont know what is wrong with it and they will call him back when they have solved the problem. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone happen to know what the problem is... It is quite annoying because the 4 wheel drive will not work until this problem is fixed. Gm told him that there is no permanet solution at this point, dealership said that the code that they recieved has no way of fixing it at this time.

This may be the very first report of this with a 2004. Several of us with 2003's have this issue, and no there is no fix that GM hasn't said is temporary. Do a search for "auto 4WD" or "service 4WD" or the like and you will have plenty to read about this.

I'm assuming you mean '02 for your Av, as there is no '01 Av. I don't believe this issue affects the '02's.
