So I was trouble shooting what I thought was a parasitic draw problem and installing new led reverse lights ( highly recommended) when I accidentally discovered that the truck has the ability to start using the factory remote. I say by accident because I was fumbling with the remote while checking out the new reverse lights and showing my soon to be blinded neighbors 😁. I need to know what the correct button progression is for the 3 button factory key fob. I think it was lock, lock long press , lock? Either way I don’t feel like irritating the neighbors with all the honking to figure it out.

What does manual say?

As I do not think they had factory remote start in 2005.
so may be aftermarket?

Also for anybody that might know about aftermarket products, the factory remote is still in use and I’m not sure aftermarket remote starts would work that way? Maybe there are other owners with factory remote start options but don’t know about it like I did? I’m the second owner of the vehicle and the original never mentioned ever using it either. I called him and he almost soiled his pants when I told him.

I do not see remote start in manual index.

Under dash could be all sorts of stuff added for this remote start as many people did it back then

Well it’s going in for knock sensors, front brakes( damn stripped star bolts) 02 sensors and airbag sensors next week. After that , brake lines and fuel pump. I’ll have the mechanic investigate.

He found the remote start wired in a loom with the trailer brake control. That’s probably why we missed it the first time. Also I figured out the combination. It’s lock, lock-lock.
