Searched but got no hits.... The latch has broken off my 2006 AV tailgate and since I have to replace it I thought I would add a backup camera and remote lock actuator too. Does anyone know if a 2007 or later tailgate will fit on an '06? It sure would be easier to get an '07 with a camara and actuator and run the wires to the tailgate instead of taking the skin off of mine.

Thanks!

doubt the body lines will line up.

also does the 2006 have cladding?

People have added power lock and backup cams to normal 2002-2006 avys... heck group buys back in the day
members who sold kits... such a different world 15 years ago

The trim on 2006 will be dark grey as well as the tailgate bezel, on 2007 and later all that will be black and not match the side toolbox and sail panels etc.

Bummer, it is never easy. I did see all the detailed posts and photos from years ago and always intended to do the mod but never got around to it and now all those posts seem to be gone. Guess I get to spend some quality time with a heat gun, acetone and a scraper....

Thank you for the replies!

I've posted this before.. You don't need to remove the skin to install a remote lock or camera. This is a picture that someone here posted years ago, I added the arrows showing where I fished the wires though (yellow arrows) on mine WITHOUT removing the skin. Just remove the latch on the drivers side of the tailgate and pull the wires out there and then drill a small hole at the bottom of the gate (red arrow) next to the hinge and fish the wires out there.

There's room to mount a small camera behind the bezel and if you are installing a remote lock you also do not need to cut a hole to get the actuator in. Once you remove the latch assembly you just pry open and slide the actuator in, there's enough room so you don't have to cut the fiberglass like the instructions say. Unfortunately I don't have the pictures any more..

Not to difficult of a project.. Mines been working for more than 15 years with without any problems..

Here's a link to the lock kit.... http://dynoproducts.net/locks/dynolock/dyno-elelock.htm
