I’ve been trying to figure out the airbag light that’s on I remove both seats checked all connectors can’t find any pinched wires I replaced front right bumper sensor now I’m waiting on the left one for poops and giggles I’m gonna also change that one out I change the airbag module under the driver seat but went back to the original I did find it wet under the matting I’ve been trying to dry it out. I’m trying to avoid going to the dealer I can’t figure it out from the life of me but this is the data I pull up any suggestions are greatly appreciated I have been scouring the entire Internet for all information I can find with no luck on the problem but I do believe it’s directed towards the passenger seat we’re talking about a 2007 avalanche LTZ I’m posting this speech to text so hopefully there’s no errors Update OK I figured out how to edit this and I can’t seem to upload pictures of the screenshots from my phone of the live data I will try again thank you for your patience

I had to deal with an airbag error just last week on my 2003 Z-66.

Before attempting any repairs, I suggest having the truck scanned with a scanner capable of reading SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) error codes.

Many less expensive scanners can not.

The error in my truck pointed to a wiring connection on the passenger side and more specifically something to do with the passenger presence detection circuit.

I had just replaced both front seat bottom leathers, so I figured it could be possible that I had missed connecting something.

I had hoped I had not accidentally broken a sensor or something.

When I began my troubleshooting, I took the passenger seat back out of the truck and traced every single connector and sensor.

Everything looked good.

I finally broke out my multi-meter, pad and pencil.

I unwrapped every wiring bundle and proceeded to trace down and meter each wire from point to point.

Every single wire I checked had good continuity, except the very last one I tested.

The final problem ended up being a wire that was partially broken within a 1/4" of where the wire connected to one of the pins that went into the wiring connector under the seat where it connects to the truck's wiring system.

The plastic wiring covering was completely intact with no outward signs of damage to the wire within.

I carefully disassembled the wiring connector and removed the connecting pin with the attached broken wire.

After some delicate soldering and careful reshaping and fitting of the connector pin back into the wiring housing, I am pleased to report I have no more airbag errors.

This is the second vehicle I own that has had airbag errors that resulted from bad wiring under the seats.

Our Acadia had a factory recall for bad wiring connectors under both front seats.

The dealer had performed a crappy recall repair that came apart later.

I found the TSB for that recall and I performed the task exactly as described.

We haven't had an airbag error in that vehicle for over two years now.

I'm calling that one fixed.

If I hadn't read the codes with a good scanner on that one, I would probably still be fighting that issue.

All I can suggest is to get the SRS error codes read before tossing any more wasted money at the problem.

So frustrated been trying to figure this out for a while . Put different module , looked for broken wires , tried using electrical contact cleaner on most of the connectors . Replaced both front radiator support sensors had seats out 5 times already . Jute padding under drivers seat by module was wet got another one that didn't help . really stumped . Seems like the only things that come up when I google the codes is companies that want to reset modules . Not fun . Any Suggestions what else to check besides the Dealer?

The module needs to be reprogrammed for your AV looks like its programmed for a Suburban

yeah , this is what comes up on my tech 2 . I know what the code definition is , looking for possible repair or someone who knew where to look. . If my scanner didn't define code I wouldn't be that lazy not to google the definition . I guess the way I wrote my post it was easily to think thats what i was looking for sorry . Thanks tho .

I have a tech 2 and borrowed a stolus edge for this week . she gonna end up going to stealership

Curious . can I program this used module that i picked up used with my tech 2 while I'm waiting for my origional to get back? sooooo maybe cleaning all those connectors fixed my origional problem. and now its down to wrong module ? I hope ! I dont care if i cant program the used one though

If you checked the links I posted they had troubleshooting info for each code.
What to check for before replacing parts

Here is all the B0033 and B0040 there is. There is no real troubleshooting to it of than checking the wiring to something you don't have.
Also keep in mind those codes stay in history for 100 drive cycles after you fix the problem. (including those ABS codes)b0033-49.JPG

Oh yeah check with the folks you got the tech 2 from it may be something simple like telling the system not to report it.
