2007 Avalanche owner! These things are fantastic!

Funny you should say something.... they are being put on this Tuesday!!!!!! I can't wait. The passenger stock molding is peeled back about 4" now EEEEEKKKKKK!

I went to a body shop on Saturday morning to get a quote on getting the 1/4 panel, rocker, and fender rust cut out and fixed...... $1200-1500  (y)

Looks like I will be getting my truck fixed on the 21st of this month. Damn I am excited.

Tomorrow the new door guards are going on. Excellent. :D

Outstanding!

(y)

Pics when it's finished, please.

Ouch, on an 07???

Any pics of the rust in question?

I was plagued with rotten rockers on my 02, but I have yet to see an 07+ with significant rust yet  :(

Also, I can't wait to see the moldings  :D

You guys aren't going to believe this...... I didn't notice this major issue.

The seller on ebay that sold me the GM passenger side front 09-14 door molding w/chrome 15950342 sent me the correct lower half of the molding, but it came with the chrome upper piece from the drivers side front door  :E: :E: :E: :E: :E: :E:

f#*%$! my life - I never noticed it was wrong after having these for months. (n)

The dealer can't sell just the upper chrome part, they sell the whole molding for $250  :beating: :9:

:9: :9: :9: :9: :9:

now I can't get the moldings put on until I get the right chrome piece.

They are still going to take my truck in, remove all of the moldings and install the 3 complete sets I have. I'll just have to stick on the 4th one when I get the chrome strip.....

Cheapest I can find the passenger front door molding kit is $160  :E: :E: :E:

I'm really a fan of the all blue original moldings so it will take some time to get use to the chrome strip down the side of the truck. I could always put black vinyl on the chrome strip, but for now I am very happy with how they layed out, that they cover the existing paint lines where the old moldings were, and they make the truck look a few years newer. My smoked tails will probably be sold and I will go to the red lens version of that tail light or back to OEM because the different shades of chrome clash.

Wow! those really change the overall look, for sure!

I really like the chrome strip, as it breaks up the side of the truck paint wise.

I really hate to hear about the molding issue... I hope you find a solution soon  (n) and its cheaper for you

Also, I was poking around on Fleabay the other day and ran across a set of taillights for sale. They were attached to an Avy very similar to yours  >:D

Thanks, and yes, you did find my tails for sale on epay

I have LKQ hunting down the molding for me. They thought they had one at my nearest location but after I saw the picture it was the bubbled out version of the molding with chrome strip. Close, but that chrome strip doesn't fit these moldings. They should be able to find something.

The body shop said they can make my chrome strip fit and wouldn't be that noticeable, which might happen if I can't find a decent price for a correct one.

Oh, here is some of the rust  :E:

Oh my  :( I hate to see that. My 02 was eat up with rust when we traded it.

I have noticed a lot of the 07+ trucks chipping along the edges of the fenders in that spot....

I actually looked at an 09 LTZ last week, and the fenders on both sides had rust bubbles on the front fenders but it hadn't flaked off yet.

I am sure you are ecstatic to get it fixed  (y)

The truck still looks GREAT overall!

It was so nice of the body guy to tear my old moldings off the truck and destroy 2 out of the 4 original ones instead of using some line to cut away the molding tape. Are people that f#*%$!ing stupid that they think there is no value in a used part? Just because I don't want them anymore doesn't mean it's garbage. There might be a guy out there looking for 1 molding because his flew off and is willing to spend $20 for one no matter the color.

:beating:

Some people are such inconsiderate f#*%$!ers. I was going to put the group of 4 used moldings on ebay for $50 to re-coop some of the $90 install cost of my new ones. So much for that.

Oh no.... Is it the same shop that did your snug top? You would think they would take a little more consideration..

There is most usually always value in a used part...  :E:

I had the snugtop and door moldings painted at work.

A body shop down the street took off my old moldings and installed the new ones. I don't have the time at home to do it and they don't allow our vehicles in the shop at my work. We just happen to have a paint booth so they can spray things for me if I need it.

The body shop that did the moldings is not the shop that will be doing my rust repair either, he won't touch rust.

LKQ can't find me one. 2 local scrap yards have nothing. Car-part.com is almost useless with no pictures/prices. I did find a craigslist ad for www.kosiski.com that has a Silverado they are parting out that looks to have a good molding. They told me $60 + $20 shipping.......

Is that worth $80?! I don't know, if I want to spend at kind of coin when my truck needs the money elsewhere......

Wasn't the correct molding at kosiski. I decided to just have them install the molding with the wrong chrome piece that I already had. A normal person can't tell it isn't a perfect match, but it's better than nothing and I'm happy with it. It isn't that bad.

I also canceled the rust repair. I couldn't justify making the truck pretty again right now until I get this suspension overhaul finished and some tires and new parts for my wife's Ford Flex.

I also sold the smoked LED tail lights on ebay, the smoked lens just didn't flow with any of the chrome on the truck. Back to OEM for now but I will eventually get the red lens LED tails just like the smoked ones.

After years of searching for the best deals I can find on OEM suspension parts, the results are in! I'm finally done looking and can get started on replacing .

Rear autoride shocks:
Everyday online price per pair $546 shipped.
I paid $288 shipped  (y)

Front autoride shocks:
Everyday online price per pair $476 shipped.
I paid $335 shipped  (y)

Now the big list:
(2) tie rod ends
(2) front sway bar bushings
(2) rear sway bar bushings
Upper left + right front control arms w/ ball joints
Lower left + right front control arms w/ ball joints (aluminum)
(1) rear track bars
(2) rear upper control arms
(2) rear lower control arms
(front and rear sway bar endlinks already bought/installed not included on this list)

Everyday online price $915 shipped.
I paid $590 shipped  (y).

I saved around $725 over the last couple years searching for all these parts on Amazon and eBay. They are all brand new OEM and the shocks are AcDelco OEM replacements.

Now, to get all the parts installed  >:D.

Sounds like you have what you need!

I bet it will ride like a brand new truck when you get it all switched over!!!

I paid a good friend of mine with a lift to install all of the parts for me while I was on vacation last week.

What a difference these new parts make vs the old worn ones.  (y)

182,000 miles and after seeing the used parts, the previous owner must have had MOOG lower front ball joints installed and had 1 upper front control arm/bj replaced. The moogs were junk, 1 siezed up and one really loose. The aftermarket upper arm/bj was also really loose.

One thing I noticed right away is that my truck will no longer cycle the autoride compressor on the first start up of the day (or even the mid day start up). Could be possible that the new rear suspension bushings hold the truck better at the ride height it was intended for.

Here are the new parts on their way to be installed (I ordered 1 too many rear track bars, woops) .

Also, just a few days before the suspension overhaul, my oil pressure gauge has been swinging all over the place  :E:. I ordered a new pressure sensor and screen. I will dive into that repair soon.

I sold my LED tail lights and dug out all the BS that collects in this massive pocket behind the tails. Holy cripes that was deep mud, dirt, rocks. It goes so far towards the rear wheel well from the tail light you really can't reach it all to clean it out. Clogged the poop out of my shop vac but its the only way to clean it out......

I sold a few things around the house and got some more funds together to have the body work/rust done. Went to a more reputable shop yesterday for an estimate, just waiting to hear back from them. If the price is right, the work should be finished early June. Very excited.

I have seen this a lot on the second gens on here... I'd be awfully tempted to knock like a 1" hole in the bottom of that corner for drainage purposes.

^ I totally agree. There is no reason for that giant cup to be there.
It makes me wonder if the same problem isn't present in front of the rear tire causing you this problem  (n)

First glance of the truck with the new door moldings and the 24's mounted. I think it works just fine.

New suspension parts are in, alignment is done, she's ready to rock for the summer.  >:D

It looks good  (y) I do think it needs a small touch of chrome somewhere at the top, I don't know what though, I feel like the mirrors would be too much and vent visors would be too much... Hmmm It really does look great though
