2007 Avalanche owner! These things are fantastic!

Been calling every other day the past week and he is to the point that he said he should be spraying color tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, I'm f#*%$!**g ready!!!!

On the bright side, you are a little ahead on your mileage by now.

:E:

Hahaha, true on the mileage. I actually only take the AV out in summer when we need it or want a different vehicle to drive than my summer car. The AV was my winter ride, but now I am thinking about getting another AV to beat on in winter LOLOOLOL my wife isn't happy!!!!

We are selling my Kia, I do believe it's getting replaced down the road with another Avy

I did end up buying another AV last night.

2007 Black
LTZ
5.3L
215,000 miles
Autoride (blown bags and bad compressor)
Heated titanium leather
DVD/Nav BOSE with headliner DVD unit
4wd
20" LTZ polished alloys
Sunroof
Newer tires
New brakes
New fuel pump
New fuel tank

It has 5/6cyl misfires. Dents on just about every panel. Dirty inside/out. Surface rust on most panels. Tailgate doesn't open. KBB for fair condition is almost $8,000, I picked it up for a FRACTION of that! My wife actually isn't even mad!!!!

SAAAA-WEEEEETTT!!!

Better be careful, you're starting down the slippery slope to become like Alaska_Av.  :B:

Here is the winter beater  >:D

The interior will clean up nice. I will practice my own bondo and paint on the outside if I ever really want to. For now, it runs, shifts, drives, and is a hell of a rig to tool around in winter to save my Bermuda Blue AV from the salt/sand/snow. I'm so happy right now!!!

I'd drive it.

It has been a hoot to follow Alaska AV's adventures over the years. I originally considered he was possibly having Obsessive Avalanche Compulsion issues or just had too much time on his hands during those long nights in the winter and very short nights in the summer.

I am now coming to believe he has been on to something many of us may have been missing. He has been collecting parts and gaining intense knowledge to keep his collection going on for any years to come. I'm sure NAPA & Rock Auto not not just around the corner from him.

Now with this discussion over the horror for having the endured experience that the Blu_Fuz AV has succumbed to the aspects of advancing years and such a terrible episode of Avalanche withdrawals. I was caught off guard yesterday when he mentioned getting another Avalanche to use as a Winter Beater. What a concept. :D  I do rent many vehicles during the course of a year and thankfully I don't have to actually drive them. It just isn't the same if you're not in your Avalanche.

I can't wait to hear and see the next round of discussions regarding the Winter Beater. I have a feeling this will fun for many of us. YMMV  (y)

Well this was a plot twist I wasn't expecting!!

Good show.  Just the back up parts alone are worth the investment.  Hell, just those wheels alone are worth a grand.

Thanks guys  (y)

I never would have thought I would snag a beater 2007 already. You are right, the 'disposable' parts alone are worth what I paid.

I will probably sell these items to re-coop the cost:
-bed panels $100ea ($300)
-wheels/tires ($800) I have a spare set of 20's
and maybe a few more things, who knows.

This is exciting and I'm glad to see I have a crowd to cheer me on!

Some other good news, my Bermuda blue AV is in paint TODAY!!!! Can't believe it.

Actually I did get the call that it was finished!  (y)

He also said he didn't want to put the truck back together with the paint being soft and wanted to give it more time to cure. I was on the road all day yesterday until 11pm and I have to work until 5pm today, so I gave him another day to get it all finished up. Pickup today, can't wait!!!

Another delay hahahahahah  :E:

He said he can't buff the clear until tomorrow morning. When will the pain and suffering end?!?!??!!?

:9:

Oh well. I did get to see it in the booth. Body work looks good. Has all the right curves in all the right places. Color might be a little darker, but this is a hard color to match and the whole truck had been painted before and was lighter than the OEM color.

Can't wait to see it in the daylight.
