2007 Avy cracked dashboard

Well...it was the last resort! haha. My old fix stood up for 9 months...now its at an Auto Auction...will probably go for more than ikts worth to fix because someone will buy for part-out, or to fix for self...I might buy it and start a trophy truck...strip it down to eliminate weight...now...how bout that?

wow A D- that's one way to fix the crack, get it stolen and replace with a EXT. Why didn't I think of that?

my replacement is holding up good so far, I keep checking on it, thought a saw a crack but it was just a piece of lint luckily.

Safe travels with the new EXT!

Dont mean to rain on your parade... But 2 of my friends parents have the caddy ext and my uncle own the cadillac escalade and low and behold they all have cracks on the dash or on the dash cluster.. years varying between 07- 2011.. I wish you luck though..

Interesting they have cracks on the dash...that being said, there may be different dashes for different trim-levels of the caddies, I dont know because I havnt researched it too much (and probably wont unless I have a reason to).

My trim is the Platinum, the dash on my Cad is true soft-touch, not a hard plastic textured dash like the AV. Also, it does Not wrap down and around under the radio/AC controls, it stops at both ends near the vent trim pieces.

Do they have soft-touch dashes, or are they hard plastic?

Mine is Black...supposedly the worst color for the cracks, and mine no cracks. 71K on the Odo.

Also, the center of my dash has the center speaker, and is supported, unlike the AV, which was completely unsupported from the instrument cluster to the airbag. Another potential difference.

my 2009 lt with black interior doesnt have any cracks at all. Maybe its the humidity and moisture in the air? Cuz there is plenty enough sun for it. Could also be the cleaners I use on it

198000 on the ODO and it's now cracked, gluing it back together somehow.

07 with 61,000 mi and now I have a crack. Someone commented about using a sunshade and dash cover to prevent this from happening. I have had both since new and it still cracked. I have ordered the replacement dash for $383.18 from the local stealership and will be replacing myself as soon as it comes in.

08, with 105,000 mi. Mine just cracked. Do you happen to have the part # you ordered??

When I walked into the dealer they gave me this number for the pewter dash then he noticed the part was no longer available. Apparently 20959609 seems to have been replaced by 19331338 recently. I don't know the difference. When I get the part I will post pics.

I might be the first to report a CRACK in my gray dash  :E:.***********  :beating:. 2007 Titanium LTZ 6.0L 170,000 miles.

even with edits that was over the line ...keep it clean please

Well it has been a few years since I have been back to the forum. I of course still have cracks in the dash of both my Sub & AV.

Anything new as far as GM helping us out (I don't have the time or inclination to read two years worth of posts. So hopefully someone can give me a quick synopsis.

My 2007  black Avalance has a crack on the left and right side of the passenger airbag along with a crack at the instrument cluster hump.  I noticed the original crack by the air bag in 2009, by then I had more than 36k miles on it.

I've talked to several dealers over the last 6 years and have not got any support.  They are pretty unanimous about $1k to fix.

I don't really notice anymore, the cracks have been there so long I can't remember a time when they were not there.

Also, hi everyone, new to the forum.

I have a 2011 Z71 also with the dreaded cracked dash .One be the airbag and another big one at the cluster hump. That one is so bad it started to spider and a piece fell off.The dash is shaking and rattling so bad  its no wonder they crack. almost everyone has the cracks yet the only fix i see so far is glue it or put a carpet on it, like the 70's,Yuck!!

Has anyone tried this replacement from txdashcovers.com.Looks like the best fix I've seen and guaranteed not to crack.i ordered one,not cheap $268. shipped.I will update after install.

You may want to try another dealer.  My truck is completely stock and I had the exact same cracks.  In the same places.  Your dealer/ regional rep is full of crap.  Keep trying and good luck

My 2008 dash board cracked on both sides, first was passenger side where it seems that every picture I have seen cracks in the same place. GM should recall but they know this would be to costly.

I'm very anxious to hear how this works out.

Don't worry the other-side will crack next over the speedometer. I have a 2008 Avl LTZ same problem. I understand this is a big job to replace.
