Hi all, I recently picked up my 08 avy a couple of weeks back and I do like the look of it, I mean it overall looks decent but it sits so low to the ground. Does anyone have a video link or directions to remove the front air dam? I'm looking to make the front end look a bit higher. I'm also thinking about going with a 3-inch strut spacer lift. If anyone knows about either of these please let me know!

I think it's just held on by 1/4" bolts.. Have you peeked underneath yet? A cornfield ripped mine halfway off, and all I had to do was loosen the bolts, pop it back in place, and tighten again. One other forum member here takes his off for off-road excursions and re-installs after the trip.

Edit: Welcome to forum too!!

I will have to take a look in about a week lol its in my friends shop getting some things fixed up. My grandpa told me on his avy he had to take the whole thing off.

Sort of a late reply but just noticed it last night and @xKingdom is pretty active yet!

I felt the same way with that air dam. The front does look low and I thought too it would appear higher if it wasn't on there. This was last summer. Looked things over and thought it would look better with something below the bumper so I trimmed it figuring I could always take it off if it didn't turn out or look right. I am very happy with the trimming and it helped it look higher and shows more of those front tires. Just another option to taking it completely off.

I might do that but since the original post, I've considered putting lights in the front valence.

This looks awesome. How did you trim it? It looks so clean. Also, do you have a link for that license plate replacement piece?

Thanks!
I first used the blue painters tape to determine where to make the cut and adjusted it to get it to look right from 10 feet. Seemed like it always appeared to be curving up or down despite measurements showing otherwise.

I used my Dremel with the cutting disk. Then a sharp utility knife to clean up the rough edges and probably some sandpaper on the now bottom edge to smooth it out. Took a full afternoon at least.

The link to that license plate filler piece would be your local salvage yard. That was part of a grill from a Mazda that I cut and mounted in there. The mounting of a grill piece would probably vary depending on the grill you used.

The reason for cutting that out (Dremel again) was to mount a larger transmission oil cooler down there. The link to that thread is below if you are interested. It shows a little more about that new grill filler piece.
