For years and years I was chasing a problem that only ever occurred when towing my 5500# travel trailer. On the highway the temperature gauge would fluctuate, would remain at half for awhile, then for no reason spike to as high as 3/4's then as quickly as it rose it went back down, and this would constantly repeat. In the city towing the trailer there was often a lack of power pulling away from a stop, felt like no matter how hard I was on the accelerator it very casually and slowly got up to speed, and on the highway it was constantly hunting for a gear when climbing even slight grades. Finally after years of taking it in to the shop with nothing ever found I got a check engine light, the culprit was the throttle body. That was probably 3 or 4 years ago it was finally resolved, ran great when pulling the trailer..... Better than I ever remembered. This year again im now starting to experience those exact symptoms again, fluctuating temperatures, and lack of power.... Only when towing. No check engine light yet, but talked to my mechanic about it and he told me it was an OEM throttle body they put on, not an aftermarket and said there isn't really anything that they can do unless it throws a code, fair enough. He suggested in the meantime next time I'm in they can do a relearn and see if that does anything to help.

Has anyone else had this problem? Was a solution found?

have you cleaned it?

Careful cleaning them, I ruined my original throttle body opening manually with finger force.
I didn't think it would hurt it as I cleaned it but somehow moving it screwed up the electric servos inside/ changed its zero or something.
New clean replacement throttle body worked out so far, I kept original that acted up from cleaning process but think it's donefor?
