looking at it i thank GM is waiting till 09 for mass release of the 6speed thats when f.rd will have there new f150 out plus it looks like 08 could b a short year

Are there any pictures of the new blue (sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm a forum newb ;) ).  Thanks

There's some in this (the orginal -  :p) '08 thread;
http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,81724.0.html

But, IMO, online, and even brochure photos, never seem to do most colors justice, for better or worse. The Granite is sort of a denim blue color.

No 6-speed.
No key-fob.
No rear camera without the nav system.

As my 11-year old would say: El Lame-O? (n)? :E:

Well, there's always 2009... :C:

I think they forget how much BODY there is on these trucks now...
no chrome or cladding to break things up...

It's a LOT of color!!!

What has a rear camera without nav?? :B:

The problem is three-fold: first, I haven't heard alot of good things about GM's nav system. There are several threads in this forum that discuss it. From what I can remember, the complaints were mainly: not as accurate as Garmin, Magellan or other third-party GPS systems, and also that it was difficult to update the data.

Second, it's a $2000 option. If you consider that you can get a really good handheld Garmin for about $500, taking into account that the Garmin (and others) is a superior product, and you can understand what I mean.

Lastly, consider the buyer who has their own GPS, and wants the safety of the rear camera. If that were me, I'd be pretty unhappy that I had to pay $2000 just for a camera.

A great solution would be to provide an interface for third-party GPSs, like the iPod interface. Have a connection point, and a few buttons to control it. Doubt we'll see anything like that anytime soon though. ?:E:

The problem with that is though many GPS devices support standard protocols for outputting data, I don't believe there is any standard protocols for controlling a GPS (or physical interfaces (ie, cables), for that matter) as there are with an iPod. Even many non-iPod MP3 players can be integrated into a head unit because they almost all use USB, and have a set of protocols for the 'play', 'ff', 'stop', etc... functions. Until such protocols exist in the GPS market, you won't see alot of plug and play interoperability with different manufacturer's GPS units and 3rd party accessories, much like it was years ago when you needed to buy a specific manufacturer's car kit for your cell phone rather than using BlueTooth and a generic BT adapter.

But, I agree - when I can buy a Pioneer AVIC-D3, a BT module, a XM Radio Module, a MP3/USB module, rear camera, and the interface kit for GM cars to plug it in and use the steering wheel controls all for under $2k installed and have more features than the factory system, there's no reason that GM should be charging $2,500 for the Nav/Radio/Camera combo.

Lee, apparently I can't PM yet, so I have to post.  I'll keep an eye out for a truck like your looking for.  My local dealer has a dark blue LT, but pretty standard with 3.73.  I really like that color, and they seem hard to find.

I'm with you on the GPS argument, although I've been really impressed with the OEM system.  It is expensive, but it is pretty good from what I've seen.

Thanks, Backup. I just saw your other post on a week with the LTZ, and am glad you're enjoying it.

I'm pretty much resigned to just ordering an '08 locally in a few weeks. I get the feeling that production on the '07s is pretty much done, and don't expect to see much more selection in '07s in dealer inventory anytime soon. I'll probably skip the factory Nav & Cam, just because by the time I add the Lockpick and a BlueTooth kit, it's ~$3k, when an aftermarket kit with more features is less than $2k.
