Help me!

I just bought a 100k miles 2010 Avalanche LT Z71 and it happens to be a lemon... or that's what I'm guessing. Transmission is giving me a lot of troubles after a 12 hours of driving it on a fuel stop when I shift to R or D nothing happens, I have to rev up to 3,000 rpm to get it moving. Fortunately on 5 and 6th gears I was able to drive the last 4 hours of my journey and also after adding some Lucas Additive on the transmission.

Now trying to fix my 6e80e transmission (seems that's the one installed on this Avy) I got quotes from $3,500 up to $4,1000 to get it fixed. Rebuilding transmission and replacing the ECU.

Can anybody give me some feedback on this or gimme options to move, as I said I just bought it and now I got the debt of the car with a huge reparation pending to make it reliable....

Advices?

TIA!

While the miles on that truck are not excessive for it's age, it is still a 10 year old vehicle.

As such, it would not be unheard of for a transmission to have issues.

I bought my EXT with 116K miles on it back in 2012.

At 125K, the transmission went out and had to be rebuilt.

The transmission now has 236K on it and it has not had any problems since the rebuild.

I know spending that kind of money is hard, especially after just making your purchase.

But, if you go ahead and get it rebuilt, it will most likely be a long time before you have to revisit that repair.

The price you reported seems reasonable to me.

Options:
Rebuild existing tranny
Junkyard Tranny
new Tranny from GM
New tranny fromsay jasper or summit or other online place.

I guess you could drop the pan and see if anything is in the bottom.

Now I had no idea they ever discontinued the 2500! hanks for the info!
The 2500 Avalanche was produced from 2002-2006.

All were the cladded version of the truck.

There were both 2WD and 4WD versions.

They came with two fuel tanks.

Big engine and transmission and rear leaf springs instead of rear coil springs.

They were awesome and some of the owners here will be happy to share some of the other things that make them unique.

One cool truck.
