2010 TAILGATE NOT LOCKING WITH DOOR LOCK BUTTON

Just got a 2010 LT Avy 4x4 and the thing i don't like about these trucks is that there isn't a manual tailgate lock. I was told that it is internal and will lock when i press the door lock button on the remote. It is not locking tho. All doors lock and are fine, its just the tailgate. I'm coming off a 2006 LT that i loved. Any Help? Thanks guys and gals.

I was going to say welcome to the site with only two posts but I see you joined back in 2012....must be the strong silent type? 
There are many older threads about adjusting the tailgate strikers and checking the locking parts inside the tailgate, there may be even some photos of the tailgate internals. Damage can occur if tailgate is forced open or closed in freezing weather sometimes.
Also most owners have loved the second gen AV remote locking feature since that was a popular mod on first gen AVs by their owners....

Very strong and very silent type lol. I appreciate your response. Ill search through the threads and see if can find it. I will be more active tho, with this new purchase. I like the Second Gen but i like manual locks. Like the Manual safeties on guns, i guess lol.

Did you find a solution to the tailgate not locking. My lock is broken I left at the dealership for 2 days but they didn't get to it. As much as I wanted it fixed, I couldn't do a third day
Please let me know what you found out. Maybe it will lead me on how to fix mine.

Tailgate lock problem

I recently purchased a 2012 Avalanche. Love it but have 1 issue. The tailgate does not lock. It does not have a key slot so I assume it works on remote. I have check all fuses and remote does work but tailgate will not lock. Any help is appreciated \
