Hi All:

I am installing an aftermarket rear-view-mirror display and rear view mounted camera. Before starting this new post, I search the bowels of this site and found the gmupfitter electrical schem.https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/482/2011_LD_ElectricalPickupsChassisCabs_100813.pdf, page 13.  I believe I have two options for wiring the unit I have, either at the rear reverse lights or under the dash. I believe others have said that I can use the SPO rearview camera from the BCM or just splice into the rear lights. Just wondering if anyone else has tackled this install recently? some of the other posts are old.

Following the schem it should be pretty straight forward.

I have not done this mod on a 2011 Av but as an alternative thought have you considered getting an aftermarket head unit with built in monitor which would give you a much bigger rear view. It may make it a more plug and play installation as well with an aftermarket camera setup. A company like Crutchfield has a great customer service department that can help you with finding the right parts and harnesses to work for your specific AV.

Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately mine does not have the BOSE system so Crutchfield does not have anything that will work with my existing A/V equip't.
I have the camera and going to install it tomorrow. I come back with results.

I completed the install of the rear view mirror camera on my AV today.
This is the unit I purchased, https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/rear-view-mirror-back-up-camera/A-p8726341e

I used the factory wiring at the rear view mirror for the monitor 12 VDC power. The diagrams I found in the bowels of "A/V Parking assist systems" were very helpful.
The plug pins I utilized were 8 & 9, but 9 was not the light green as stated on the diagram. Mine was dark blue. I used marine splicing + silver solder inside as well as at the rear left backup light.
The mirror/monitor installs over top of the OEM rear view mirror, however, with this model from "Xtreme", the spring loaded jaws did not open wide enough to grasp mine so I had to remove the lower jaws and just velcro it to the OEM mirror. Not exactly what I was expecting but it cleaned up not to bad. I had to buy extra RCA video cable from used electronic supply shop to get from the inside to the rear of the tail gate. I installed the camera in the tail gate bezel exactly as the newer OEM camera installation. Because I did this, I had to extend the 12 VDC power wiring from the camera end as well to reach the left rear backup light. I routed video cable inside along paneling, midgate and just through the bed temporarily for now until warm weather returns in which I will neatly route it along the body. It works pretty good for less then $100. I had to make a few mods but I'm used to this sort of thing.

I would post pics but for some reason they will not paste in?

Anyways, thanks for the help.
