Hello there.

Does anybody know the best procedure for getting to the back heater (to replace it)? I have the back of the drivers seat off and thats as far as I got. It is a leather seat and has electric lumbar support in the back. I can see plastic clips where the leather clips to the frame but I'm unsure if I should figure out a way to peel the leather over the top (remove headrest somehow) or if i should go from the bottom (which SEEMS more complicated) or sneek around from the side somehow. I do see that it says "air bag" on the side so now im a bit reluctant to mess around there too much.

Any hints or ideas? Please?

2011 Avalanche. Heated power leather seats. Just replaced the back heater on drivers seat. Not too bad. Seat stayed in the vehicle. At the rear drivers side I took the back off the seat. Undid the clips holding the leather. I pushed the long, bottom horizontal clip through to the front. Went to the drivers seat front to where seat bottom and back meet and pulled that same clip through fully. Peeled enough of the leather around the sides to get it loose enough to stick my hand up from the bottom and peel away the old heater from the foam. Reclining the seat fully helped me get my hand up there better. I wrestled to get the new one up in place for a bit due to the friction but it all worked out. I didnt peel away and expose the adhesive strips on the new heater. I figure it will just stay in place. I didn't mention the wiring because if you do it you will see its pretty obvious where it goes and how it gets there. Then I reversed the procedure and it works great now.

I had to remove a couple plastic cover pieces to get better access in the back but all in all I'm pretty sure I could have done this with no tools or perhaps just a flathead screwdriver. That video you linked definitely helped me out. Thanks.
