I have been trying to get under the drivers seat to hard wire the NAV to the camera feed you mentioned. I am tryint to remove the knob for the lumbar support and the seat backrest handle. I tried pulling the knob with plastic removal toos but I am afraid I will break them off. Is the a special way to remove them without damaging the plastic?

um, 2012 models the camera feed is @ the BCM not under the seat..  it was changes between 2009 and 2010 (and it was the passenger seat not the drivers).

the camera feed is the blue wire on the bottom left connector of the BCM.

So in theory if i check voltage across 6 & 7 on the mirror with the truck in reverse and I get nothing, it isn't getting a feed from the camera? Or am i interpreting that wrong? My 09 factory camera won't display on the mirror, so i'm trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I got blurry lines once (i just bought the truck 2 months ago) but nothing else in the mirror since.

I have a 09 Z71 Avy with the backup camera and display in the ISRVM. I would like to be able to turn it on while in drive as well, did anyone ever test this and find a solution?

Thanks!

I have a '12 with the video in the rear view camera.  I read this thread and did not see a clear answer.  can anyone simplify the way to do it?  Thank you!

You need to get a wire diagram of both and go from there.

Another option is to use a digital VOM and unplug your mirror plug and probe the connections. With the key on you should find atleast one connection that will have +12 volts on it when you find the ground with it too. VERY important to use a digital VOM because an analog one can damage equipment if hooked to the wrong line.

I would do the key on and check for +12 and insure you can only see +12 from one source so you isolate the ground. Then you can probe the other lines until you see +12 volts when in reverse with the key on. You will likely want to block your tires to insure your truck won't roll when doing this.

It IS possible from seeing the other messages that you might see +5 volts but look for whatever voltage you can find.

Then do the same for the harness to the rear camera.

Sounds like you should get a voltage source to both devices and get a "turn on" signal.
Getting the wire diagram is the best solution.

A friendly dealer should be able to get you the wire diagram...
