2012, Battery Goes Dead In Couple of Weeks

Battery continues to go dead if I don't drive the vehicle for a few weeks.

Dealer checked for latest software and parasitic load, less than 28 ma.

I checked current flow from battery, and pulled every fuse with no change.

Is 28 ma really enough to drain the battery in just a few weeks?

New battery does same.

Yes that will kill a battery, so you need to keep it on a trickle charger like I have to to keep the battery at charge, then after three years you will still need to replace the battery. I know this cause I live it. the BCM wakes up every few seconds to see if the remote has been actuated.

Thanks for the response.

Frustrating as some friends leave their ford trucks unattended for months while they are gone for the winter, and the vehicle starts fine when they return in the Spring.

Not much I can say about Furds, This is a common thing with our trucks, I keep it plugged in when not using it for longer than a week.

get dual battery kit with isolation switch so you can isolate one from anything so it will be there to help you start

Thanks for the answers. I will be more diligent using the trickle charger, just frustrating.

You are lucky to get 2 weeks. My 2003 lasts about 5 days. I bought a solar battery tinder. But do not get enough sunlight to keep it going.

mine sits in garage for a month then I drive it.
So it sits on small trickle charger.
got another year out of this battery and hope for more ... she is weak but still starts

It's not as much the sun light as to the charge for the battery to the size of the solar cell charging it, I do the same thing with my dump trailer but need a good pricey cell. The lawn mower works just fine on a cheap one.

Hi I’m new to the group, I have a 2004 Avalanche Z66,I love the truck, but my battery goes dead after sitting for 2 - 3 days!

Welcome to the site WJE026!
If you have that much of a drain on your battery you should consider having the whole electrical system checked out and load tested by a competent electrical mechanic, assuming you have a fresh battery to begin with.......

Fords do NOT sit for months without needing a jump. No modern car does. They have modules that are always listening for information. They are asleep but always watching. Maybe in a truck that has no power windows or locks and has no remotes for it. Otherwise ALL vehicles have some drain.

If you have a problem with battery draining in a couple days one place to look, especially on 2002-2006 trucks is the seat heaters if so equipped. If they go bad they WILL pull juice... Mine is right now and will kill the battery in about 3-4 days.
