2013 Avalanche Bluetooth music question

Hey Everyone,

It's great to find a community like this! I recently bought my 2013 Avalanche LT edition and it was noted it came with bluetooth. I was happy about this at first because I think its the best way to play music. When I setup the trucks bluetooth to my phone, I noticed the only way i could use the bluetooth was for phonecalls. This was very annoying because i cannot understand why a cars bluetooth would only work for calls but not media. Am i doing this incorrectly? Is there a setting or something i am missing? When I pair the truck with my phone it only shows as "calls". Does anyone else have a 13 Av they are able to play music with through their bluetooth? My AUX port on my trucks radio/dash doesn't work too well, when the cable moves in the port it's fuzzy or the speakers goes out. I'd rather not have to deal with getting an aftermarket radio to resolve this issue. So if anyone knows how i could set up the trucks bluetooth to play music/media i would greatly appreciate the advice.

Thanks!
Peter

I don't have a 2013 but I remember reading about this issue in older threads. I think the owners needed to buy an extra device to get things to work. You might want to contact customer service at www.crutchfield.com to see what they advise.
Also welcome to the site and AV ownership!

Well, my current options are to use this crappy bluetooth battery device plugged into my defective AUX port. Or spend $2-300 on a custom radio and risk losing my door chimes/onstar/steering controls/back up camera. So i'm really hoping this site you linked works. Thank you very much!

Bluetooth is phone calls only...

However there is still some hope, look inside your center console, do you have a USB port? The RPO code for the USB connection on my 2010 is "USR". If you have the USB, and don't mind plugging it into your phone every dang time, then you may be in luck!

That honestly kind of blows my mind that bluetooth is calls only like that.......Why on earth would they do that, it's already through the speakers. My model of AV has the bench seat in the front for 3 people. My center console does have a plug but it's not USB its the cigarette lighter type, I may be doomed to either buying an aftermarket radio with bluetooth, or use using the AUX cord.

Thanks for the reply!

I just bought this for my 07 2LT
