Let the rumors flow, this time with a LT5 double overhead camshaft and a big blower.
But still not midengine.

The New ZR1 debuted in DUBAI over the weekend, you'll probably have to live there to afford it.

This time the LT5 does not come with 4 valves per cylinder, but it does have 2 direct fuel injectors per cylinder.

They call it the king of the hill, I call it the Corvette from Hell. It suppose to top 210 MPH

Still don't like the tail lights. And I wouldn't buy the big wing for a street vehicle - it screams ricer. Looks like they solved the Z06 overheating issues with a hugely open hood and much more intercooling capacity.

They are going to build 2 versions, one with a low wing. It's rumored to be around 135K.
Since Chrysler killed the Viper for 2018 it has no real US competition so up goes the prices.

OK guess what happened to a Brand New 2019 ZR1 Corvette over the weekend.

Pace car crashes during opening warmup lap at Detroit Grand Prix. Driven by a GM Exec.

And Ironically the ad that came on before the video started was for Maaco.

I bet GM told him You broke it You bought it. He is pretty high up the Food Chain at GM, but at 121,000 bucks it's bound to hurt.

They are turning it into justification for a mid-engine and awd next-generation Corvette.

Worst-kept "secret" around; I am sure on purpose. Sounds like they wiil keep the front engine Vette around as the cheap entry level model for at least a few years. I want to see a mid engine model in the flesh before I pass judgment, not that I will ever be in the market to buy one.

Well, they sure did it in a Big time way on national TV.

Hummm, maybe worth a trip to the Corvette Museum after 7/18/2019

Have a trip planned for mid-July with some Corvette Forum members. Hope they have the factory back open to tours by then!

One of the only other places I may be able to see it at is Dream Cruise

Hummm they are adding a second shift at the Corvette Plant. I guess they think the new Corvette is really going to sell.

It is super cool but now that there is no manual option  :beating: :E: :needhug: I'd never get one.  It's been my dream car since grade school but sadly no longer.  I am after all the guy who put a manual into a '78 Impala sedan, along with a few other well disguised tricks that allowed me to power through a cloverleaf at 60mph with my foot in the gas.  :drive:

It virtually has no options yet, it's pick your color hardtop or convertible. At 65,000 bucks its cheap considering what a Cadillac cost

But hold on to your pants 2021 Z06 is suppose to have a overhead camshaft with twin turbos 6.2 called the Blackwing.

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/07/c8-corvettes-twin-turbo-lt7-v8-to-use-same-architecture-as-cadillacs-blackwing/

Oh, it's definitely a wicked car and I can't believe they offer it at that price point.  I just enjoy rowing my own gears too much.

Not me in order to put a manual in it would require a 7 or 8 speed manual, I don't like shifting that much.  (n)

That's one of the reason you never should buy a first year car, that second year car is always better after the get the quirks worked out.

The Corvette has joined the NO CHROME NATION  :woohoo: :woohoo:

Did Motor Trend really bust GM with their 495  horsepower rating on the 2020 Corvette.

Hummmm it runs 2.8 0-60 and 11.1 seconds in the quarter mile at 128.

So Motor trend decided to strap it to a dyno. Busted

Apples to Oranges. After reading the article the whole way through, they clearly state two different methods of using the dyno. Lots of other variables in there. Temperature in the booth, elevation, humidity. That's why there's also correction factors involved. I wouldn't get too excited about it until you buy one and test it the same way GM test theirs.
