The organizers of the 2015 CAFCNA National Get Together are pleased to announce that we have selected the Sevier County Food Ministries in Sevierville, Tennessee as the Charity benefit for this year's event.
Their History
Sevier County Food Ministries is a voluntary interfaith ministry founded in 1992 in downtown Sevierville to help assure that no one in Sevier County goes hungry. We are guided by the example of Christ, who understood hunger and fed the multitudes. Food and monetary donations to purchase food are contributed by caring individuals, churches, businesses, clubs, groups and many other persons and organizations.
Their Mission
Our mission is to feed the hungry. Our neighbors do not have to meet any qualifications to receive food, though an interview is conducted to obtain basic information and to understand their situation and identify who we are serving. Our program is an emergency food resource for persons experiencing a food shortage.
Those in need may come once a week for as long as they are experiencing difficulties. In addition to practical support, this ministry offers prayer and counsel for those who request it.
All of the funds raised between the charity raffle and other donations will be donated to the Sevier County Food Ministries. We will also be accepting donations of mainly non perishable food. However, they also accept perishable donations such as bread, eggs, etc. They also have a large need for formula, baby cookies and diapers.
I have full confidence that we as members of CAFCNA can do many things to help them out. If your region would like to collect donations at other get togethers leading up to the national get together please feel free. We may even try and do a "food drive challenge" like was done at 2013 Nationals, since it was such a success. Details will come at a later date.
A separate donation thread for raffle items will also be posted at a later date. Thank you all in advance for your participation and will to assist these fine folks. And a HUGE shoutout to Old No.7 Avalanche for contacting the organization and making this happen
