What do I look for to get the best available?

Ken I kind of looked for the newer generation numbers and higher wattage. I Know these look good hooked up to a lipo battery but not sure how they will perform once installed and off the ground any distance.

Good luck in your hunt.

This may be the wrong place to ask this, but, has anyone tied the saddle bag locks in with the keyless entry system? I'm in and out of mine all the time and find using the key to be a PITA.

There use to be a company that made a kit just for the Av, but they've since went out of business. Now, that being said, I'm sure you could rig up such a system, but I think that would be a PITA as well  :(

Hmmmm, I don't want to hijack this thread so I'm just gonna think on this a while and maybe see what I could come up with. Then I'll be in touch to find the appropriate place to post on this subject.

Thanks for the info though.

DouglasOak is going to adapt in a 4 pin trailer conector for me to run my lit trailer hitch plug.

So, does anyone have access to the mag light clips to do the mag light mod? I'm pretty sure they came from an Army base, and I can't find them.

I got my clips at Bass pro shops.

Mods looking to complete at nationals:

Sail panel lights - have all the parts, just need help with the harness
60" tailgate Led - if it comes in in time
all 4 on high - can I buy the diodes off someone there?
Bed light - need a mod to remove the disco ball from my IP cluster

looking forward to meeting everyone next week.

Jack

Does anyone have any carworx refinish and restorer?
I went to recoat the panels and bedcovers today, and my 1/2 can is now solid.

I do not think I can order and get one to me before I leave for the GTG.

If anyone has an extra they want to sell  - I would be very grateful.

You can't buy it, but I've got 99% of a can you can use to throw a coat on your panels.

With ALL the cladding the Black Diamond has, it doesn't take much to R&R it

What Modifications do you have planned for this year's GTG?

If so, post what you would like to have done/what you can help with.

Mods to be done

4x4dreamer - Nothing yet  >:D
EricB - Remote tailgate lock, sail panel lights
readheadedrod - Sail panel lights
frito - DRL sockets, move trailer plug, update sail panel lights/snugtop cyclops light
RC Re Run - Ambers, Puddle lights (front & rear doors), 60" Tailgate LED Bar, Full time DRL's (need parts list for 2013), Full time Fog Lights (need parts list for 2013), Flashlight mod
Nice summary post!!!

Not really a MOD but if anyone has some spare RR and is willing to help me with my "zebra" I would like to give it a shot...

While the lower cladding isn't too bad the bed cladding is pretty roached.

If not I will likely take the Elliot way out when I get home and start working on some Rustoleum paint or try some bedliner material I have mentioned before in my build thread... But putting some RR on there might keep me from needing to do it for a while...

Ummm if anyone has the necessary parts, I'd also like FTDRL, and All on high.  If not, I can wait.

UGH, I don't know if I'll be able to do any mods.  Getting out of work at 8:00 PM seems to be an early night anymore.  I haven't had time to buy the drl sockets.  Looking online last night, they need to be shipped to the store as they are not in inventory.  I don't have the trailer plug and don't know if I'll have time to get it and I still need to change my oil before we leave in the morning.   :E:

Have you called either of the local advance auto parts or autozone? They may have them in stock if you check. My local advance did when I needed new sockets about 5 years ago

No, I checked online and all stores in the area for Advanced Auto, Autozone and NAPA show it as out of stock/special order.

So I bought the trailer plug for relocation.  The local Advanced Auto did have one drl socket.  They have another one coming in overnight that I'll pick up when we leave in the morning.

So my next question is, do I need to bring any tools or will there be enough of a supply to get the job done?  I'm getting ready to go pack now.

DRL sockets are a breeze. I should have what you need to get those done. All you really need is a small screw driver to pop the guts out of them!

The trailer plug relocation, I don't really know what all it entails. I assume cutting a hole in the plastic bumper cover? beside the license plate? I have a selection of basic tools, several things for electrical mods (wire, cutters, crimpers, etc) pass through sockets, etc Not sure what special tools are required.

See you tomorrow!  (y) (y)

Thanks  I wonder if the trailer wiring may have to wait.  I don't know if I have the proper implements of destruction - i.e. the proper stuff to ct the hole.  I bought the full sockets with wires.  The housings are just as fried as the internal guts. I[ll see if I can find anything in the next few minutes.  We're heading out in an hour and half to meet up with KLind and carAVan down.

I've got a few step drills I think we used to drill mine. Bring it.
I'm always up for modding.
