I still have one of those old radio shack ones... Remember that craze?
The ones that plugged into the cigarette lighter and had an antenna?
That's the only one I've ever had

Two questions...

Where will we be meeting up on Thursday? I have your number so should I just call/text when we get close? We are likely showing up early on Thursday, check into our hotel and check out the area.

Picking up a radio probably today for use while we are out there. Did you say we will be on channel 7 at least to start out with?

Rodney

When we cruise in my region, we always use channel 8 so it was force of habit to choose this channel.

I will be at the host hotel on Thursday handing out welcome bags and Name Tags. As well as collecting food for the food drive, handing out dinner tickets, food drive tickets, giving info, going crazy, etc, etc...

So that being said, feel free to come by the host hotel on thursday evening for the meet and greet! And yes feel free to call/text if you'd like, you've got my number!

I had a nice set of Motorola Camouflage 30 some mile radios... They were stolen, unfortunately... So I suppose I will be bringing my fire department issued radio that has the built in FRS frequencies.. It'll be like carrying around a daggon brick...  But boy is it nice..  >:D

So just to be clear, the channel we are going to be using is #8?
(This is the part where Ian and only Ian responds with the correct answer)

That is what is in my 2002.  (y)
Don't have to worry about batteries. :)

If you want to do something on your "Free" time and like things that go "Bang", there's two large gun shops in the area. One in in the Smokey Mtn Knife Works and the other is just behind Smokey Mtn Knife Works. Its Bud's Gun Shop. Bud's is huge and has indoor range and supposed to have some "Full Aut"o stuff to rent for the range.

I just joined this site. I just got my avalanche a couple of weeks ago. I have been looking around the site when I have time. I would like to come up for the event in pigeon forge as I only live about 1 hour away. I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer.

1. Do I need to sign up for the event or just show up?
2. Is the show and shine and other sat. events being held at the host hotel?
3. What are you all talking about when someone says the spotted some ambers?

Just let the coordinator know in the "Attending" link...

Here >  http://chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,145836.0.html

Check out the other links related so you can see what we plan to do and where. All of your questions about the GTG can be found in the related threads.

As to ambers... In short we have changed our DRL lights from white to Amber to show we are "in the club" and chances are if you see an Avalanche with yellow DRL's they are on here somewhere or another avalanche group.

See this thread for details>  http://chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,50150.0.html

1. Absolutely just show up if you'd like!!! But if you want to let us low, just post in the attending section

2. Yes, the show and shine and other events will be held at the host hotel!

3. Ambers are amber Daytime Running Lights. We club members change our clear lights to amber to be able to spot other club members!  (y)

Please come by if you can! We would absolutely love to have you!!!

Well I may have to check that out, sounds like fun.

If you are into the outdoor life you really should stop by the Smokey Mountain Knife Works! It's much more than a gun and knife store, more like a museum, I have mail ordered knives from them for 25+ years and have visited the store a couple of times. Plan on spending some time there, it's a BIG store!

Thanks for all of the effort that you put into this years Nationals, you and your team did a great job! Although we didn't or couldn't do all of the events we had a great time.

Have to agree. Seems like just a few days ago I was going to sleep at this time. Now I am going back to work at this time.  :E: :E:
