Different frames and suspension and all sorts of stuff.

I do not know difference other then width I believe and maybe some mounting holes and cross section and suspension mounting and bumper reinforcements.

yes AVY is based on suburban frame. 1500 based on 1500 and 2500 based on 2500 there are differences...

Check a GM website for frame PN and heck I just looked there are plenty even though not a lot of options in 2002.

See stuff that fits 1500 does not fit the 2500.
Hitches come to mind.... brush guards on front is another.

big question is WHY?

I was just curious tbh I’m not looking at any specific parts. I heard different people say different things so I wanted to know. If the 2500 frame is more heavy duty I might go with that.

Well define Heavy Duty?

The 2500 is rated to haul and tow more then a 1500 so does that count?
2500 engine and tranny are larger as are axles.
Suspension rated to carry more load.

The difference is about the same as you would find between a silverado 1500 and 2500...
one is designed to tow and haul more...and hence rougher ride.
