Hey all,

I'm trying to up-grade the look of my 2002 Z71 Avalanche with the least amount of money, and I need some ideas/suggestions from anyone! I bought a Stealth Offroad bumper and a winch, and I ordered some BFG 285/70/17 tires that are on back-order. Will the Ava look good without a 3"body lift, or will I need one for the tires to fit? Would it look better to get it level, and how do I do this and how much$$$? I can't afford a suspension lift. Any ideas are welcomed!!!!!

Please respond!!!

Thanks,

Mike

It's all in the wheel back-spacing(offset & width). They'd fit no problem on the stk wheels or aftermarket w/ similar bs'ing. Even w/ a 3" lift, the wrong offset may not fit 285's.

Mike,

Don't sell yourself short - you can do a complete body lift (installed) for under $700. You will also be able to push 295 BFGs. I did mine for under $500 but I have a buddy that runs a garage. Best money I ever spent. The Av looks completely different and rides like stock. If I were in your shoes I'd cancel the order for the 285s and get the body lift first. The lift you will need if made by Performance Accessories and runs a little under $200 (about $250 with gap gaurds). Don't forget to crank the torsion bars up front to level the truck off a little after you do the lift. I think you'll need the "firmer" ride with the addition of the winch/bumper anyway.

Good luck!

I got a total price of $630.00 including gap guards. I have enough money for that, I just didn't know if a 3" body lift would make it look that much better or if it would look good with just the BFG AT KO 285/70/17's???

I just measured my truck and I got 37 1/2" from ground to fender in the back and 35 1/2" in the front. Will I have enough adjustment in the torsion bars to make it level?

Any other ideas???

Thanks

The body basically puts the truck at the height that it should have been from the factory. I have no clue why Chevy makes bothe the 2wd and 4x4 the same height.....

So basically if nothing else, the body lift will make your 4x4 actually look like a 4x4....

630 including gap guards is a good price. However get some refereances from locals regarding shops around.... the cheapest guy may cause you headaches and cost you more in the long run....

with adding a stealth bumper..... you will want to crank your bars to return the AV to stock height anyway.,.... the bumper weights quite a bit more then the plastic bumper cover you are replacing, so the front will sit alittle lower when you install the bumper....

one thing alot of people have said about raiseing the front... do not raise the front more then 1 3/4" from stock, as going higher may/can/will cause problems with alignment...

hope this helps...

regards,

Grey
