300,000 mile club

312,487 here! Rebuilt trans, and transfer case only because I am a service/-arts manager at a Chevy dealer. Everything else ori! I about to do cam upgrade because of a slight skip on one cylinder. Prett sure a cam lobe or valve is bad.

My ‘02 just turned 215k still running strong
I do have a rear jounce or bump stop question... my original pieces are junk. Ordered the “exact replacement “ bump stops from Amazon. When I removed the original from my Avalanche and compared it to the new there’s a bit of a difference in overall height. The replacement piece is 1.5” short. I’m concerned if I use the short bump stop it could damage the new Bilsten shocks I’ve just installed.
I can’t find and aftermarket pieces that are the size of the original other than for a Silverado which has a different mount with a threaded stud.
what would you suggest should be done
Thanks for the recommendation

I bought all four OEM replacement bump stops for both of my trucks off of Amazon.

I believe I documented with some pictures in the What Did You Do Today thread.

Probably around the first few months of this year.

Thanks for your response however I don’t know how to search for the thread your referencing. Can you advise how to get there
Thanks again

:woot:
Good morning to everyone! :B:
I recently joined the 300k mile club, and that's why I decided to make an account here and just share my story
I own a 2002 Avalanche Z71. I am the 3rd owner, first owner put 120k miles on the truck, the second owner only managed to add 30k miles, so I started using my Avy with 150k miles on it, all original parts. So I'm the other who started to change the old and used parts here and there. I rebuilt the front suspension, changed wheel hubs, brake pads and rotors, replaced the water and gas pump. My first real problem came at 200k miles, my rear differential started humming. I abused my Avy every day for work, carrying and pulling over the weight limit specs. So I changed the axle bearings, seals and differential interior bearings. I didn't get rid of the humming sound, but all damaged bearings were replaced to keep carrying and pulling
The next issue came at about 255k miles, when my front differential started leaking. So I did the same thing as before and took it down to replace seals, axle bearings and differential bearings.....these bearings were far more damaged than my rear differential bearings lol thankfully they got replaced just in time.
270k miles came along and my transfer case housing started leaking, apparently the oil pump inside creates a tiny hole within time and it leaks. All the interior components were in good condition so I only replaced the housing and seals....
Major surgery came right after the 300k, when my Avy started slipping gears :help: couldn't get into 3rd gear nor 4th. Worse case scenario is that I was away from home working, didn't know a good mechanic and prices to rebuild it were double the cost. So I had to drive my Avy 200 miles to nearest big city (where I found pa decent price of 800 to rebuild my transmission with 1 year warranty)....the whole trip I locked my shifting stick on 2nd gear and went driving 50mph the whole way lol yes I did make it

So that's where I'm at, 302k miles....original engine still. I desperately need a paint job lol I'll post pics so everyone can see what I'm talking about.

Any tips/suggestions from another 300k Avy owner? THANKS!
That transfer case issue is a known deal. It will wear another hole in the new rear housing unless it is modified with a case saver. I found out the hard way...

Well can't join this club as my 02 has only 154K, but with a born date of 15 September 2001, I'll hit the 20 year club soon.

My new to me 04 came home with 370K on the clock. I had to pull the original transmission and replace it as the 370K was too much for it. All 5 gears became neutral! It was a nasty smelly mess inside, but the new transmission makes my Avy a very happy truck. Now to work out all the other gremlins, like the driver's seat being all backwards and the blend door actuator having stripped gears... stuff like that.

She's way over her 300000 miles Still go on a strong nothing has been replaced besides changing oil vipers and the tires I love my avalanche and when this one goes I'm going to find me another 1

I've got 331,000 on my 2002, I am the original owner. Original engine and transmission. Anybody else over 300k??

11-7-2012 update just hit 338,000

02-07-2014 353,000 miles and still going although the rust is starting to show....a lot!!
I'm at 333,111 when I last checked. Just had the tranny rebuilt and have a referb motor. I wish I had put something else in there when I had the chance. I leveled out and put Bilstein off road shocks designed for leveled trucks. Thinning about trying to maybe it last even longer given the current car market.

I've got 334,100 on my 2005 Avalanche LT. I'm the original owner from new. Cost 29K off the dealer lot when I bought it August 2006.
On the third transmission, built up to 4L65E specs. Was towing a racecar for several years.
Engine is great. No issues ever.
Went thru 3 complete rear brake caliper sets before figuring out that the rear brake lines were so long that the brake fluid was boiling and baking the brakes. Went to racing grade brake fluid, problem solved.
HOWEVER: AC just died, and while parts are cheap, labor and risk to teardown the dash to get at the evaporator is prohibitive.

I am new to the group and my 2011 avalanche is about to break 66,000
I broke all FOUR front differential mounts😳 by trying to push my 85 Chevy pu☹️
Has anybody heard of this happening is the front desk a problem? They don’t make a new one to replace it so I’m having a company take another old another case and build all new parts inside so I’ll be getting essentially a brand new front differential…. This was THE FIRST PROBLEM since it was new…….
My 4th avalanche and I still LOVE IT❤️

Never heard of that problem on this website, how exactly were you pushing and under what conditions? (in the snow with fully loaded truck etc.)
My thoughts are you need a properly installed push bumper setup or better yet a good tow hitch setup mounted to the frame and tow things out and not try to push them out. Remember the AV is built on a Suburban suv frame not some super duty truck frame.
