People have been talking about this for a few days.

Too bad we took delivery of our AV 28 days too soon. :(

Oh well...

My wife and I have our 2002 av and can not feel bad over rebates now.
BUT we were at the dealer tonight signing papers on a Z24 Caviler for her.
I overheard a guy telling his wife in the cube next to me that they were taking the 4K rebate to offset the neg equity they ahd.
I could not believe it- I asked me sales manger friend if true-
yes- 4K till end of month on Avalanche, only 2500 rebate on a suburban Quad Steer- Whats up whioh the steep rebates on the av?
I heard also they are not able to sell them-
3 on the lot for over a month w/o one sale?

Interesting on that $4,500... Might just have to wait 'till Wed. and find out. I'm looking at trading in my '02 for an '03 and that extra $500 will definately help in lowering my payment. Right now the deal I'm working on will lower it by ~$5-10/mo. over 60.

It also amazes me how bad dealers mess w/ GMS pricing. I'm working w/ a dealer now that is pretty straight-forward, but the problem is that the truck I want is at a dealer 50 miles away, so I went there to talk to them directly, and they're like $1,800 high on the GMS price, not to mention they're throwing in dealer fees, etc. which isn't supposed to happen on a GMS deal.
(FYI... if you don't already know that). GMS is straight up. only thing is vehicle price, tax, tag/title, and some misc impact fees. (tire/battery ~$5-10 total). and you get dealer cash if there is any, right now there isn't on the Av.

for instance:
MSRP: $35,848
GMS: $30,385.72
Impact: $6.50
Tax (6%): $32,215.75 @ 0% for 60 = $536.92/mo
Rebate: -$4,000
$28,215.75 @ 4.9% for 60 = $531.17/mo

simply put, it pays to shop around...

We just got a $1000 owner loyalty certificate in the mail this evening from GM. So, $4,000 rebate plus $1,000 owner loyalty (plus if we can get that $2003 gm card) plus having GMS pricing...how can you pass that deal up on a new AV? This is a hard decision right now, maybe getting another. If I could get that $2003 gm card promo, I think we'd be getting a new dark grey metallic Z-71 ASAP!

GM, if you're listening (or reading) send us the $2003 promo! ;)

Not to get off of the subject but a Z24 Cavalier. Nice :D!

OK, stupid question time. What is GMS? I suspect it is a well known thing in the US but I have not heard of it.
The rebates in Canada are nothing like the US at this point :(

Earthquake, how did you get your GMAC owner loyalty certificate ? Do you currently have a loan with GMAC ? ?:B:

Actually it's not GMAC, it's from Oldsmobile thru GM. My wife bought a Alero and because Olds is folding they keep sending her incentives to get a new Olds. The deal is you get $1,500 off a new Olds or $1,000 off any (qualified) GM product. It's only for the person whose name is on the certificate, it's not transferrable. We actually used a smaller version of this when we bought my AV.

ALSO. GMS is the General Motors employee purchase program. There use to be a GMO, it was the amount you paid for a vehicle on the dealers lot, GMS was the amount you paid for a vehicle you had ordered to be built. Now there's just one price (GMS). I believe this program is different from the supplier discount. It's availible for GM employees and family. It's not a bad deal, but I've seen some people around here talk their way down to almost this price.

The press release said they are trying to clear out the current AVs because the new WBH version will be coming out in March and they expect them to sell 50/50. Also stated that the uncladded AV is much better looking and will appeal to more buyers. $4000 is hard to resist, but the WBH will cost $600 less than the current AV.
