Ok all, probably already know the answer but..... '05 with 267,000 plus miles, absolutely no warning i lost 3rd and 4th gear. Limped home in 2nd doing about 30 mph, put it in 3rd the rpm's just go up. I've never touched the tranny except fluid check and all was fine until now. I have a '99 S10 Blazer 2wd with a rebuilt 4L60E but I'm thinking it will not work for my Z71. I read that some fuses can go and/or shift solenoid can be the problem. Don't really have the $ for a rebuild so I'm junkyard shopping. I have a lift and don't mind doing the work. Any thoughts are appreciated, let me know if I left something out that requires an answer, in the St Louis area, thanks!!

Does sound like its a bad 3rd to 4th shift solenoid. My neighbor had the same issue on his Silverado and that seemed to do the trick. But its best to change them all out if you can. Also with that many miles don't flush the trans fluid just change the fluid and filter. I think he bought the solenoids off eBay for around $70. Keep us posted.

That's what I was thinking, do them all, Rock Auto has them pretty good prices. And yes filter and a little fluid, thanks Boogie327!!

One last bit of advice. It help to undo the bracket that holds the shifting cable and heat shield. I swear the first time I did this I was struggling with the pan for 45mins.

My money is it's the standard 3-4 clutch burn out.

Probably time for a rebuild.

Yeah I watched a Youtube video on replacing all the solenoids, he did the same thing

You are probably right, wanna try the cheapest fix first just in case...

So did I.

I add new solenoids and had a fluid change done.

Did nothing and I had the transmission rebuilt the next day.

I wish better luck for you.

Ok all here is one for ya, can't seem to find a firm answer.... a friend gave me a '99 S10 Blazer 2wd with a newly rebuilt 4L60E. Some places I read say it will work with changing the tailpiece, some say it wont because the input shaft is slightly smaller and it communicates differently. Anyone have a solid on this, would be awesome if I have one sitting in my driveway ready to swap, but I'm probably not that lucky, thanks all!!
