Ok I read several threads including ~ 20 pages long.......

IS there a fix?

Raiining this morning, mine did it again, has been in the dealer 2 times for it.  Ihave had the TSB on the program done, but nothing else.

What should I tell the dealer tommorrow?  its dried out and workign fine today.  My warranty will be up in 1000 miles, so I need it fixed this week.

Thanks!!

They should certainly understand your situation. As well, keeping record of your visits regarding the issue while under warranty will very likely cover you a while after it expires.

Yes, there are several faults which can display the warning. Some may be deceiving (wrong part replaced), some simple & quick and some obvious and all is well from the fix.

Good luck!

my service 4wd light kept going on and off and i took it into the local dealer and had the 4wd switch replaced and haven't had any problems since.  hope this helps

Also could be water getting into the electrical connection

Well the dealer claimed the encoder sensor was giving bad readings.  So they replaced it.  Seems to work fine.  I am frusrtrated this is the third time I have it in for the same problem.

If it happens again, I will be trading the truck for one with a manual transmisison and a manual t-case.  And since GM has dropped all the manaul transmissions in 4wd 2500,3500, 4500, and 5500, I guess it may be another Dodge.

This is a sweet truck but electronic 4wd is a joke.

It's probably fixed, that what they had to do to mine finally after 3 reprograms. The last time it dropped into low range by itself, while driving.

hope they got it fixed ramv

It was quite a bang, then slowdown. Thought I put a rod through th oil pan.

About 20 mph I had just turned a corner and was speeding up

Mine has been doing this also, but I can almost swear it's doing it only when the truck is cold, then after a few minutes it's gone.

That's posted in another thread regarding this fault. One is a very easy "fix". So far, mine is OK from it for some time now.
