I know that everyone knows about the 572cu 720hp engine that GM makes, but why dont they put this in the corvette as an even higher model than the Z06?

Emissions comes to mind....

The Corvette forums might have a better insight into this than the Avalanche forum.

I have heard that in the past the issue was too much weight for the car, but that was in the early-mid 1960s with other engines.

I don't think that 572 is aluminum, so too much weight and way too big to stuff in the corvette. This engine is a tall deck BigBlock if you look at a 2500 engine it's the same size although the 496 is different from the  502/572

Good answer.  You can't just drop a big block into a vehicle that was designed to hold a small block.  Our trucks have tons of room under the hood, Vette's don't.

I thought keeping it on the ground might be the problem!

My cousin's cousin put an Olds 455 in a 69 Vette convertible.  Very difficult to keep tires on the back. >:D
