There have been a couple of posters who indicated they received certificates for $750 after taking a test drive. I didn't find much information on it, so if you received the rebate/check/certificate, I'm sure there's a lot of us "incipient buyers" who would really like to know how long it was from the 24hr drove until the certificate arrived, or if there was a questionaire. Is it possible if you wait more than a certain amount of time they figure you need a push?

Thanks again,
Mike

I did a 24 hr test drive in June of 03'. They gave me $750 in cash on the spot!

Just kidding, I never received any rebate check/certifcate, etc. I purchased at end of July 03'.

There are also a few $1,000 Silverado/Avalanche certificates flying around as well. Don't know how to get them (cannot be combined with any other private offer).

The GM Auto Show in Motion had another $500 bonus if you attended the show and have a GM Card.

Some select GM card customers are getting a $1,500 bump up on their GM cards as well. YMMV

In July when I test drove I had a coupon for $50 contribution into Upromise account. Then received a $150 contribution into account when I purchased at end of July.

I actually got a brochure in the mail from GM a few weeks ago advertising the 24 hour test drive and right along with it was a 'certificate' for a $750 incentive if you did the test drive. It looked like it was just part of the deal - nothing special and no wait involved - though I admit I didn't look too closely since (as much as I'd love to), I'm not in the market for a new AV just yet :) I'd ask a dealer - I would think they'd offer that to anyone.

Interesting. I sent in one of those cards saying I was interested in an Avalanche and they sent me a nice brochure, CD rom etc. talked about the 24hr test drive, but no mention of coupons etc. Shortly after that I did get the $1,500 GM card earnings mentioned above (didn't get $1,500 extra, just rounded me up from my current balance of about $1,000). Adding that to the newly increased rebates (went up $500 a couple days ago), the $450 additional California license fee rebate and the $1,000 Oldsmobile (we screwed your resale by discontinuing the brand) rebate, finally clinched the deal and I will be picking mine up my Z71 at the end of the month. Now if there was a way to get an additional rebate due to some 24hr test drive that would be even better...

can you tell me more about the "$1,000 Oldsmobile (we screwed your resale by discontinuing the brand) rebate"

I have an Oldsmobile and I'm looking for any other incentives to tack on. Thanks

I think it apparently applies to all original owners of mid to late 90's Oldsmobiles (we have a '98 Intrigue), maybe up to about 2001 or 2002 (whenever it was that they announced they were scrapping the brand). They should have sent you a certificate explaining the situation probably about 2 years ago. When I got the certificate I didn't think anything of it since I had no intention of buying anything from GM. However, when I realized I needed a truck (in order to pull a ski boat) I gravitated towards the Chevy's and eventually the Avalanche. At this point I had completely forgotten about the certificate which was now long since lost. GM sent me a letter reminding me maybe 6 months ago, but also saying that I needed the original certificate. After calling them they said instead of issuing a new certificate (which would take some time) that if I just took in my current registration and original bill of sale (which I did still have) to the dealer I was buying from they could still give me the $1,000 when I bought a new GM vehicle.
The offer is good through 12/31/05.
The dealer I was going to buy the Av from knew about the rebate as he mentioned it to me when I mentioned that I had an Olds, so you could ask your dealer for the specifics, or if you post again I will look up the phone number that was on the letter which is where I got the information from.
If it's a very old or very new Olds or you are not the original owner you are unfortunately screwed I think.

Well I asked the dealer I was dealing with about the test drive rebates and he said that they (GM, not the dealer) had a certain number of rebates in conjunction with the 24 hr test drive promotion, but that they extended the period for the 24 hr test drive, but were not giving any more rebates out. He did say that there were some other rebates that were being sent out to selected people unrelated to the 24hr test drive, but he didn't know who and why they were selected - he'd seen maybe one so far. I have already agreed to buy the truck at the end of the month, so I don't think he had any reason to not tell me the full scoop - is possible he just doesn't know though.
With all the rebates in CA right now, plus the 2 free ski season passes for Tahoe they just added I really can't complain.

My husband and I got a $750 test drive certificate in the mail a month ago. We never asked for it -- they just sent it. (We are planning on buying our first AV this week so the timing was perfect.) We have been enrolled in the Upromise program for years and the certificate was affiliated with them. They will still apply an additional $150 to our Upromise account when we buy our AV.

FYI. I test drove my '04 black Z71 WBH on Wednesday 10/29/03 and bought it on Friday 10/31/03. During the "discussions" with the dealer I asked if there were any coupons around. They said they didn't know. Well after buying my AV on Friday ,a GM 24 hr test drive coupon showed up in the mail around 11/5/03. I called GM and said I thought I was entitled to the money. They took all my info and said they would get back to me. Yesterday my dealer called and said they had a check for me! I picked up my $750 check last night. Already have 3000 miles on my Av and I love it.

I received a $750.00 rebate offer in the mail several months ago. I threw it away as I was not in the market for a new vehicle.

The unexpected always "happens" so when I was in need of another truck, I called GM (got the number from this website but don't recall where). They checked my name and confirmed I was sent the $750.00 rebate offer. They then faxed the required info to the dealer I was dealing with. All total I got the GM Supplier price, $3500.00 rebate and the $750.00 rebate.

Hope this helps someone out there!

I feel like I paid 1K too much for my AV, so technically, that money is mine. Email me for the address to send the check. >:D

I got my 750 rebate after taking a test ride a bout 3 months ago- took the certificate 30 to 40 days to get to me.
I pitched mine, Dealer called up the GM #, verified my status and gave me the rebate-
I got the stuff in the mail adn sent it back to the dealer adn it was all good!
Good luck-
