8100 Gas Mileage

Got a buddy looking at a 2500. He works out of his truck and drives a lot in town. What is a real no bragging, no hype in town 8100 mpg number? Thanks.

10 - 12 in town is normal - better on highway - you don't buy a three quarter ton truck with an 8.1L engine for good mileage, and not much will help it IMHO, But it sure is nice! ;D

I wish I could get my tank full so I could figure out my gas mileage. Wait, maybe I don't want to know... :)

During break-in (MPG usually goes up), when I was fairly confident I filled the tank, I averaged between 10.2 and 11.9. But as gandolphxx said, you don't buy the 2500 for it's gas mileage.

I don't have the gas tank fix, but can fill up every time by holding the handle up - lets it go right down the pipe - have to at some stations, others not - guess it depends on the angle of the dangle or some such technical thing. ;D

Mixed city, highway driving.

First fillup 11.1, but the tank wasn't filled up previously due to the fuel tank issue, so it should be slightly better
Second fillup 10.4 (with fix), ?but included some towing.

So while it's not yet a true picture of city driving, it's a worst case scenario (non towing)

I'm getting very consisent 11-12 around town. ?On the highway, I usually average 14.5 to 15. ?

I got one freeway tank that gave 15.8mpg, but I also had one at 13.9, so it averages out.

I'd say count on 11 city and 14.5 highway would capture the situation on my 2500 LT 4X4 Avalanche. My Av has the 4.10 rear end (for towing) so it is a worst case senario.

My stop-and-go 9 mile trip to work get me about 9.5 mpg. On a trip to Death Valley this weekend we got 11.5 highway. There was a lot of wind (seemed to be a head wind both ways!). Rode and drove great. Hoping for a little better mileage with break-in (I only have 1800 miles on my Av). 2500 with 4.10 and 4x4 (all the driving was in 2 hi). Cheers - Jim
