They don't sell the 88981120 strap kit anymore to repair the saddle boxes on the right and left rear of my Avalanche.  Anyone made one from scratch or know where I can get a replacement?  One side the cable is broken and the other side it is worn.  This is a 2013 so I would think they would last longer than that.

Wow, even my 2007's are in decent shape and I'm constantly using them. Best you can do is rig one up using an electrical eyelet and some heavy duty wire?

My 2004 are in perfect shape.

If you have a hardware store nearby, you can make a replacement. I have a 2011 Avalanche and the left side broke. First, get a length of Stranded wire for picture hanging. I cut 3 lengths of the wire and twisted them together for a stronger cable. You can purchase crimp on connectors for the wire ends. Just to give it more strength i used shrink wrap tubing on the cable. The hardest part is that you have to grind off the existing rivet but a dremel makes short work of that.

Yup, I’d just make a set. I personally would remove the whole hinge assembly from the truck so you can drill out the rivets, and work freely from damaging the truck.

Easier said than done. The hinges are part of the entire top assembly and would require a lot of removal of other bed components to completely take off.

I stand corrected, I didn’t see the 2 bolts facing down.:dunno:
Oh well, at least take the cover off the hinge so you can get at those rivets easily.

I once wanted to take the brackets off and paint them. Thought they would come off as you did until I discovered the ugly truth of how they were attached. Curse you GM engineers!
