I have tried using the search feature, but have come up with no luck on the these questions. ?I only have time to get on this site about once a month, so please bear with me. ?Direct links to answers are great as well. ?Thank you.

1. ?I intend to install 55w rear facing fog lights in my steps on my rear bumper. ?Can I just tap the power off of my cargo lights, so I can control these with exisitng switches, OR do I need to run a relay to a new power source lead, and just enable the relay with the exisitng cargo lights circuit? (I want to be able to turn them on and off whenever, not reverse lights. I do not want any new switches or anything).

2. ?I have 265 75 16 Coopers on ARE rims on my 2002 Avalanche 2500. ?The front T-bars are cranked up a bit. ?I have bought molded mud guards, but since my front tires already rub very slightly, on full lock reverse turns, (which I have to do sometimes towing a trailer), I am concerned about ripping off the mud guards. ?I did get the push pins from the dealer to install them with. ?ALSO, I have Westin nerf bars, and the fronts don't fit flush because of them. ?Did anyone else run across this? ?Did you just cut the mud guard around to make clearance, and if so, did you lose structural integrity of the mud guard?

3. I have the R&D kits for Fog Lights on and four headlamps on.
Which is the best and method, i.e. safest for the 4 headlights on? R&D, or the added ground wire? ?
What is the best way to set up my amber DRLs to run all the time?

4. Does anyone have issues with the rubber rear window gasket 'drooping' from the top? ?I have taken mine out, and added adhesive and tape to keep it up, however the droop is really caused by the fact the gasket is a little too big in circumference for the openning. ?Will GM balk at replacing it under warranty?

5. What is the deal with the recall on the gas filler neck on 2002 2500s? ?My dealer said they had never heard of it, but I know the problem exists. ?

6. Does anyone have a solution/product to match the front over wheel lip trim on a 2500 to the back wheel opennings without cutting/splicing pieces together?

Just additional...

Has anyone else had a spray in bed liner done? Just curious... I had a Scorpion Liner sprayed on the floor, and could not be happier with it. ?I spend most of my time tweaking my boat, and the AV gets attention as time and money allow. ?So far, I have a hybrid K&N FIPK, ?removable mudflaps, amber DRLs, 4 Silverstars, ARE Outlaw II rims, and and Cooper tires, Air Lift bags with the filler nozzles being the rear upper license plate bolts, Lund clear bug sheild, ventvisors, true duals with FLowmaster 50s coming out boat style behind the rear wheels flush with the body, HT PPIII, Catch-all molded carpet mats front & rear, billet grille and bowtie, Westin nerf bars, and a Sport Wing. ?

Thank you all so much again, for your time in answering. ?You guys know this site like the back your your hand, and all I do is search for hours with no results. ?If you have any boat questions, try www.offshoreonly.com , as I am on there everyday.

I am not any authority like some of the people in the group, but;
1. I looked at the wiring on mine and I wouldn't use it to power an additional 110W of lights. ?I would put in a relay and run a larger gauge wire to the power center for the 12v to the lights.
2. with the wider wheels I think this is going to be a problem. ?I don't have the mudguards so I can't help much here.
3. haven't done this but there is a thread all about it here in the mods section ?look at the check here first section, second post from skidd;Mod for all lights on. ?Highs, Lows, DRL, & Fog
4. If it is falling I don't see why they wouldn't fix it. ?I don't remember reading about anyone else having this problem.
5. ?there is a recall on all 2500s, make your dealer look it up, or call chevrolet and they will give you the info.
6. ?I don't remember who did it, sjudson I think, but someone had posted (I think it is in the "hey, does anyone else, have this mod, on thier AV" thread) that they bought a set of fronts and cut them with a table saw to fit. Go to the thread page two and click on sjudson's bottom pic. His web site has pics of how he did this.
I know this doesn't help too much and hopefully someone with more modding experience will reply. ?Sometimes it takes a day or two for people to find your questions.

? ?Re: your question... 1) ?Rear Fog lamp....
? ?I haven't received my AV yet... but one of the Mods I have planned for it is Rear Fog Lamp... but I do not want to add lights to the rear bumper area. ?So what I am going to do is wire up the left turn signal to be on all the time. ?This is the same wattage as the europeon cars with factory installed fog lamps... 27/28 watts...
? ?Now the tricky part is if I have the rear fog on, how does the left turn signal work... Answer, I will be installing an addition relay, Off delay to cancel the power to the left turn signal... Second problem is backfeed... Going to add a diode to prevent backfeed to the left turn signals... ( Turn signal in mirror, front turn signals, Line of Fire, Trailer hook up etc....
? ? Now the other part of your question is that you could wire the relay up so that it comes on when your Front Fogs are on, thus no extra switches required... I however will be installing a fog lamp switch in the storage compartment on the right center of the IP...
? Hope this gives you some more ideas...

Keep mod'in

I dont think the cargo light wires can handle the extra wattage of back up lights so new wire will be required. Have you looked into those lights operated by a remote so all you have to do is run power and ground to them and operate them with a remote so no wires have to be run into cab.

Try TruckPerformance.com for the 55-80 watt lights that fit over the trailer hitch and plug into the trailer hitch. You can also get them to hard wire if you are so inclined and want permanence.

?

I would not.....as this is a goofy circuit in where you ground a wire on the bulb and they come on and signal the display thingy on the dash...

?I cannot answer as I have 1500

FOR full time DRL I say move the wire over as listed in the long thread....for the lights on all the time I do not like that as I fear the current harness is not up to the task.....but that is me....

?Drive real fast to dealer and have them fix this for free!!!

5. What is the deal with the recall on the gas filler neck on 2002 2500s? ?My dealer said they had never heard of it, but I know the problem exists. ?
go to the questions section and look for the threads there,,,,bunch complain about it and it does exist...

6. Does anyone have a solution/product to match the front over wheel lip trim on a 2500 to the back wheel opennings without cutting/splicing pieces together?
not seen one yet but could just cut end off of one in lieu of splicing...

Suggest reading more of the posts as there may be more stuff you want to mod or learn about.....HTH

In the middle/top where the gasket is split, right? I have pushed mine up on my '03 1500 twice now (about 1/4"), so yes I think mine may do it too. I'm going to watch it in this summer's heat and see if it continues. I can think of no reason that that is not a warranty issue.

Also, I came across a used '02 1500 when I was looking that did this a lot worse than mine...maybe 3/4" or more. Dealer said that was a "we owe" item without question.

I don't think the 2500 gas filler is a recall, but a TSB. The difference is that you have to make a specific complaint to have the repair done. The problem is with getting the tank full. To get the increased capacity (37.5 gal) Chevy added a small (6.5 gal) tank on top of the regular tank. There are two TSBs one reroutes the vent line and the second requires dropping the tank and replacing the filler neck. I had to take my 2500 in twice - same complaint both times - very difficult to get the last 6.5 gal into the tank. Actually I had mine in three times, after the second repair (filler neck), they didn't get a gasket in correctly on the top of the tank, and when I filled the tank, gas would come out the top and over the spare tire (bad). I still have some problems with filling up (depends on the station), but much better then orginally. Cheers - Jim

Rear Fog Lights............

You must use a relay, the wire for the cargo lamps (and maybe even the switch) will NOT carry 110W.
at its 26 foot length the wire is only good for 4.7 amps (the cargo lamps draw 2.95 amps). ?put the relay as near a posible to the fog lamps.

connect terminal 30 (auto relay) through a 15 amp in-line fuse to the red wire on the trailer connector. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect terminal 87 to the fog lamps. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect other side of fog lamps to good ground.
keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect relay terminals #85 and #86 to the 2 cargo lamp wires. ?keep the runs under 5 feet and use #20 wire, if over 5 feet use #18 wire.

you could also put a switch in the circuit for an over-ride circuit. switch in one position allows the fog lamps (and cargo lamps) to work off the cargo light switch. switch in the other turns on fog lights (and cargo lights). switch in center position the fogs stay off no matter what you do to the cargo light switch is.

connect terminal 30 (auto relay) through a 15 amp fuse to the red wire on the trailer connector. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect terminal 87 to the fog lamps. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect other side of fog lamps to good ground.
keep the runs under 5 feet and use #16 wire, if over 5 feet use #14 wire.

connect relay terminals #85 to the hot wire on the cargo light. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #20 wire, if over 5 feet use #18 wire.

connect terminal #86 to the center terminal on the switch. ?keep the runs under 5 feet and use #20 wire, if over 5 feet use #18 wire.

connect one of the outside terminals on the switch to the other cargo light wire. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #20 wire, if over 5 feet use #18 wire.

connect the other outside terminal on the switch to a good ground. keep the runs under 5 feet and use #20 wire, if over 5 feet use #18 wire.

I think rod has done this before . . . . I love experts who share the advice noce and simple like rod, I had to diagram this crap to figure it all out when I did my rear facing lights.

ps rod - does your advice stay the same if the cargo light cicuit is "hot" and the dash switch basically makes the ground to activate?
