So the ABS lights have been blinking for 2 days. I leave home n get across town n all of a sudden the whole passenger side locks up . Drivers side seems fine
2004 Chevrolet Avalanche Z66

Plz. Any suggestions.

Tammie West.

my guess is wheel hub bearing is toast.

Were you applying brake or it just locked up?
IF just locked up you are very lucky to be in a wreck due to wheel bearing failing

Seems to be mostly applying brake . It'll grab just a hair when in motion . Not constant

After this completely locked up n popped a tire on front passenger side n peeled aka burnt some rubber off the back tire bcz the driver at the time wouldn't just park it , he popped the tire , we then changed the brake line that had broke , it somewhat got better but now when test driving it locks up when braking , and just grabs a hair when in motion ..

How hard is the wheel hub bearing to change out ?

Also the oil pressure gauge bottoms out n the ding bell goes off loudly , alerting it's low , at the bottom of the dashboard it says oil pressure low, when sitting still ,. I changed the sensor under the hood, 2x , does this mean oil pump is bad ?

It's a chore, but definitely can be done in the home garage. A 1/2" impact and impact rated sockets / swivels will make the job easier. Lots of videos on youtube, can also search for Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade/Yukon of the same model years for very similar vehicles.

Maybe, but not necessarily. More likely is the oil pickup tube o-ring going out. The oil pan has to be dropped to get to it.

What oil filter are you using? Change to the UPF48R or PF48e oil filter immediately and test again. Don't keep driving with low oil pressure. There is a service bulletin regarding aftermarket oil filters and low pressure. Service bulletin is here. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/SB-10059078-4342.pdf

Thx so much. I'll have to find someone to do it as we both here are fighting the Nasty C word . Uve been a great help.

It's not hard if you have the tools. The only possible hard part is if the hub is rusted on to the knuckle and the hub is separated from the bearing (what should be one piece was two sections) like mine was. Then, you have several hours of work with PB Blaser, heat, sledge and chisel!
