While it is not Avalanche-related, it is GM-related: I traded in my Avalanche for an H2 and within a week of owning it, was rear-ended by a Saab 900. The final hurt: $300 for the H2 to repaint the rear bumper and $3900 to replace the headlight, signal indicator, grill, fender, and hood on the Saab. While not Avalanche-related, perhaps it will cheer me up to make others smile with my tale.

A couple of years ago, I got my Silverado rear ended by a ford truck. I got out and looked at my rear bumper. There was a small white paint spot on the plastic part of the bumper which easily wiped off with my hand. I looked back and the ford truck had it's entire front bumper smashed in with damage to the grill and both front fenders.

Ouch. :E: Sorry about the bad luck.
It could have been much worse. My father always told me to hope that you are involved in a minor accident once in awhile instead of a major one once in your lifetime. I am grateful for that, but it is also my first accident, so it still upsets me because I was on a roll. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

My last vehicle was a Ford Excursion, an SUV based on the Ford SuperDuty line of pickups. I was always worried that in an accident, the repair bill would be huge. I have heard horror stories of the cost of front-end repair on the SuperDuty pickups, even though they are one of the most popular vehicles on the road. I guess it all depends on the direction of impact and other things. I have damage above one of my D-shackles on the rear of the H2, yet nothing on the shackle itself, even though the car shouldn't have been high enough to do anything above the shackle. Just really bizarre, but at least insurance will take care of it. Hopefully it will be over soon. I have no idea how this process for insurance goes or how long it normally takes.

I look at as "At fault" accidents.. You're still on a roll..

That is true. Though I still get upset at myself, thinking, "Maybe if I didn't want a coffee and wasn't there." or "Maybe if I went a different way." I guess it is the type of person I am. Oh well. :)

I feel you Boar-ral. My Avy was hit a little over a month after I got it :8:I was lucky there wasn't a lot of damage to the rear left quarter panel. The person who struck my vehicle had progressive insurance(they're great). I didn't even have to contact my insurance co. Progressive took care of everything. They even paid for the rental car. I hope I'm never involved in another accident, if so, and if I'm not at fault I hope the other person has Progressive Insurance.
