Thank you. I does great in the hills too. The extra clearance has already saved me some repairs. Of course, without the lift, I may not have tried some of those trails in the first place.

Looks Awesome...

bpm,
did you do the lift your self or have it done at a shop? was looking at this kit too. do you know if it changed factory track width?? any help would be great ;D
Thanks J.D.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes, I had it done at a place here called Les Schwab. I needed new wheels since there was a problem with backspacing on the original wheels. I kept my tires, but put on some 285.75R 17 Toyo's.

The width is about 2 1/2 inches wider on each side, so the mud flaps that came stock do 1/2 the job they used to. Since it is higher, I do like the wider wheel base. It feels as stable as if did before and it definately did nothing to the smooth ride. The extra clearance has saved me some repairs already. If you get the lift, keep in mind you may need to fabricate new mounts for your skid plate on the front differential. Good luck, it really makes a big difference, and other avalanche owners feel inadaequate!

Do you mind giving a round about figure as to the cost?

Yah, I don't mind telling you. I spent the extra money on the 17 inch ultra chrome wheels which were 225 per wheel. But the lift itself with labor was 1950. I wanted the 17 inch wheels so I could throw my old tires on again. The 16 inch wheels I priced were machined finished and only 99 per wheel. The tires were 140 each I think.

Sorry to bring one back from the grave...but what backspacing are you using and you said you had a problem with the orignals?  If you used 285-70-17s do you think you would have needed new wheels?

I liked mine a lot.  Just got my lift all done today though so goodbye toyos and hello Mickey Thompson MTZs.  If you're interested my Toyos are for sale with the z71 wheels only about 5k miles on them.

Sweet: don't you wish they came from the factory looking like that.

PS: don't forget about a spare tire. It is a good thing to have :B:
