Good day everyone. The more I read various posts, the more I get nervous about my Av. I have scoured through several posts but most were dated in 2003 and refer to a 2002 Av. I have an 04 Av. It has the Bose System for the AV, (6 disk changer) UC6. I want to keep the factory HU but change the speakers and add the JL Midgate Box.

What adapter should I use?
Will I lose ANY functionality? (Chimes not working or exceptionally loud).

And while I am here, what adapter do I need to plug a DVD player (or any other sound source) into the factory HU? I have read about a number of adapters, I am very confused as to which one I should use.

My installer is doing most of this, but I want to know what is going on just to make sure it is done right. I had an aftermarket radio installed only to find that Onstar had to be piped though a tiny adapter speaker, my chimes no longer worked, and no I read that perhaps even the airbags won't deply... I was not happy. If I lose ANY functionality or normality with the vehicle, back to factory it goes. :E:
Thanks for those who respond.

Well that was a resounding response. :E:
I have a new question. I managed to get the JLs installed in the doors with a JL amp, sounds good, but I think the installer got a little messed up, when the accessory power is on the radio is still on as is the Bose Sub, but the amp, (and therefore the speakers) are not. Is there a connection missing here?

Wish, I knew, but when you are a the GTG, I want to talk to about your installer.. I want to mod my 02 a little. I havent done anything to my system YET.. See you soon

02 is much different from 04

Speak to some one who has an 02 that has done that already!

Oh wait a minute I have an 02 >:D

Sounds good, hopefully the JL Midgate box will be in by then, and I will have some bass to go with the highs... :)

THey did some very great stuff with my 02, and I still managed to keep the factory HU.

We'll talk in a few weeks..... Looking forward to it, gotta start with my engine compartment painting project.

You have an 04 so You would do better to include that with the topic!

I have done a lot more to mine, if you liked it before you will love it now.. Need to take a pic I guess

I think what you need is the PAC AOEM-GM24. I got it from buy.com for $30ish. It says it keeps chime in the left channel. It has 4 RCA output (one for each channel RF, LF, RR, LR). The instructions, which I am looking at now say you can remove the factory amp by using this, it will also give you the accessory on wire.

The setup I am doing (still making the sub boxes) is to just add subs to the BOSE system. I have a 2003 with 6CD, XM, Onstar.

PAC also makes an adapter for input lines, but you have to have XM to make it work I think. Also there are other companies that make adapters, just dont know the names from top of the head.

Heres a link to a picture I took of the PAC AOEM-GM24 with instructions, where you can see it says you can replace the factory amp.
