Agghh!!! This Is Not Good!

GUEST
I just recieved a call from my dealership regarding my Red AV. He has informed they can not get one locally with the options I want. He found one 200 miles away. I do not want them to drive the vehicle that far. So, I said I will factory order it. He states to me if I do that I will lose the 0% financing :cautious: So, he says the best thing for me to do is choose a different color. I called Chevy and they said the salesman is correct I must take delivery by the end of the month for the 0%. Advise please. I want Red.

Can't you do the paperwork and then go get it yourself? That would be a better way to put 200 miles on it. I would rather be the guy putting on the mileage then the punk runner who may be abusing it along the way.

If not, pay for a flatbed to your dealership.

Find out who the dealer is with the truck you want and you go get it. Thats what I did took a 4hr drive to get mine and got a better deal the my local dealer was giving me.

I agree with Jamie, that's what I would do. You know you're going to want to drive it once you get it. I drove around all night, I was mad when it was time to go home ;D

You have choices and I think they are:

1. Go get it and drive it back (gets 2/5 of your break-in mileage over with)

2. Have it shipped - if you must get it to your door without the 200 miles you can have it shipped but if you do go only with a very reputable, trustworthy (get references), carrier and possibly (if it can fit!) an enclosed trailer. You can do a Google search but I suggest getting in touch with Intercity Lines - they're one of, if not the best.

3. Don't get that vehicle

If you're determined/decided to get it I think that's your choices. Hope this helped.

And the right answer is . . . . (IMO of course) . . . .

Go get it yourself! I found the perfect Av on GMBuyPower at a dealer 150 miles away - had 5 miles on it when I bought it, 155 or so when I got it home.

And driving back was a blast ;D except for the snow :cautious: and my Av getting initiated with its first rock chip :8:

But that's life . . . go get your new Av and enjoy!

200 Miles is nothing!!!

Go get it!! You won't be dissapointed!

You have to have that red one!!!
I know the feeing.
My red AV was 140 miles away, equipped exactly like I wanted, and the dealer had to pick it up and drive it back. In this case not a bad thing. I talked with the guy going to get it. He was an older gentleman, retired, who just moves cars around for the dealer for extra spending money. The good part is he has an AV of his own. After talking with him I was very comfortable with him picking "her" up.

I had the exact same situation when I bought my 2003 last week. Except for me I had to go 400 miles. Beleive me when I say it was a pleasurable drive.

And I remembered my last vehicle. I settled on a lessor vehicle, because it was easy. That regret of those missing options made those 60 payments last alot longer, if you know what I mean.

Ok, here is what I told the salesman. It has to be Red. That is it. I can go pick it up, which they said no to. So, I said ok, I will factory order it. Salesman said ok, and I have to go in tomorrow and do the factory order, unless something or my mind changes by tomorrow. Thanks for the repsonses. I almost thought about going for some differen or less equipment. I decided not to do that. I was already giving up not being able to get the leather. I need seating for six. So, it looks like I may have to wait a few weeks, for my Red beauty. But I am sure it will be worth it. I was hoping to have the AV a few days after my birthday, which passed about a week ago. But hey I can now say it's an early Christmas present. Right? ;)

I would hit the road and buy it from that dealership. It might be a fun little weekend get-away. :0:

At least you know you'll be coming home with a big ;D

Ok, here is what I told the salesman. ?It has to be Red. ?That is it. ?I can go pick it up, which they said no to . . .

1st, good choice on the color ?;)

2nd, the dealer said "NO"? ?How about letting them know that if they don't work with you they lose their sale and you'll trot over to the dealership 200 mi. away and do the deal yourself? ?I can't believe they'd let a sale get away. ?Basically if it is an issue of liability on their part, you finish the deal there, the salesman gets his piece and a hash mark on his sale board, and then you go pick up the truck? ?I'd talk to the sales manager if I was you. ?This coming from someone who doesn't have much patience to wait for something she wants ;D and of course you have the incentive of getting 0% financing.

3rd, I'd say "look (insert salesman name here), I have been browsing a website of THOUSANDS of current and potential AV owners. ?They give kudos to great dealerships/salespeople, they discuss problems, they do their research before they choose to buy (and WHERE to buy)." ?He could have a lot of good press if he worked this out for you.

4th, it breaks my heart that you considered settling for less. ?You know what truck you want, and let's face it, it ain't cheap! ?I'm sure something can be worked out.

Good luck!

Talio,

Do you really want to get it from this dealer. I would go tell them, I buy it from you and I go get it, or, I buy it from them. The other dealer will match the price they told you. They will probrably beat it too. The originating dealer gets 3% back from the sale of the vehicle from GM.

Hit the road and take a little trip. You will enjoy it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Don't let that salesman pressure you into ordering it.

You can have it a lot sooner than ordering it.

It was only about 7-8 miles but we had somebody drive our AV down to Luby Chevrolet from Stevinson (for those who would know) because that's where the one equipped exactly the way we wanted was. Like many others, we found it on gmbuypower.

I would say you should get it yourself so you can help with the break in the way you want to. That or the flatbed. Then you won't have to eat up a quick 200 miles on your brand new Avalanche.

when i bought my 03 I was looking for an 02 I walked in told them what price I was getting on the 02 and he told me he would mach that on AN 03 that has 4000 more in options exept for a roof rack and he said he install that too .......

moral here is dont settle on a deal go out and find your own these dealers are a dime a dozen and all willing to cut each others throat... you tell them what you want If they dont sell the truck they dont make money and we all know there all about money

Im with ZimmsAV

ROAD TRIP!!! >:D >:D >:D

Sounds like your dealer wants your business but doesnt want to take care of you. Go on the road trip and buy from the other dealer. I bet you get a better deal playing one against the other as well. >:D

Talio, congratulations on your pregnancy! ;) It will be worth the wait. To those who are worried about some punk doing the dealer trades and treating the vehicles like some kind of race car, in this day and age with liabilities out of control most dealers now use older retired people they pay a fee to per vehicle they move. That way they can be assured of the vehicles getting to each destination without problems. Imagine the cost to a dealership tradeing one $40,000.00 or more vehicle for another and the other dealer refuseing it because some kid went joyriding and messed something up. It may have been that way in the past, but not anymore. I speak as a (thank God) FORMER manager at a car dealership. :B:

I know it's too late but, what is the big deal about the vehicle having 200 miles on it? Mine had 300 when I got it and I'm as anal as they come. A little old man and his wife drove down to NJ and got it for me. Unknown to me at the time the truck was in NJ as a dealer trade from NY. Your warranty starts at the mileage you pick it up with. If it has everything you want you should have got it. I wouldn't have passed on the financing deal for a measley 200 miles. If it comes in from the dealer trade and it's damaged or not to your liking you order a new one.

My only comment on this is "Don't settle."

Get exactly what you want - you may have to wait a little while and maybe pay more but I found that that is better than having regrets (for not having a certain option or color) for the length of time you own the vehicle.

I learned this with my Silverado, that is why when we (the wife and I) got the AV, we said we were getting exactly what "I" wanted, or the Silverado was OK to keep.

So decide what you must have and accept nothing less.

I agree with everyone else!! Go to gmbuypower.com to get the name of the internet sales rep at the dealer that has "your" av. I would bet he will match the price you have agreed on if not beat it. Then grab a friend and hit the road!

Plus, there is something to be said for getting those break-in miles out of the way quickly. I have about 650 miles on mine after 2.5 weeks and boy it was tough keeping that truck under 55. Only solice is you get to see all of the jealous people stealing looks as they pass you on the highway in your brand new Av!!

Here's a point noone has mentioned or maybe aren't aware of. When I was Av shopping, I wanted a black Av first, pewter second. I had checked gmbuypower and knew what dealers had on their lots. When I went to my local dealer I asked them to find me a black Av first. They told me there were none in the Pittsburgh metro area with the options I wanted, but they found me a pewter Av instead. I asked the salesperson about the black one I had seen at another dealer 5 miles away. What I found out was that SOME DEALERS REFUSE TO DO TRADES WITH CERTAIN OTHER DEALERS. They are not OBLIGATED to trade stock to other dealers. :7:

The gist is this. Don't take their word that there are none available, check out gmbuypower for dealer inventory! You can even get a screen print of the window sticker including VIN. ;)

By the way, that black Av was still there two weeks later. Their loss, not mine. >:D
:B:

Ok, great. Some of you feel it is not that bad if they drive the AV for me. This is something I wanted to know. I have purchased to conversion vans from this dealership so I am assuming the right thing. The salesman did assure me that it is an old retired guy who will pick up my truck and bring it home safely. I'll will see when I go in tomorrow what I can work out. I really do not want to wait eight weeks for my AV to arrive. So, I will see maybe I can work something out. But, if not then eight weeks it is. :) Thanks everyone for your help, this site and Club is great!

Talio :B:

Talio, I feel your pain man, it's really a pain when they can't see it your way... and trust me waiting isn't good! I really hope it all goes your way... why won't they let you pick it up? Maybe it's just me but that doesn't sound like customer service.

Most Dealers will not do swaps within the same city. Not sure if it's Dealer Courtesy or GM policy. And I'm sure they all have certain other Dealers that they prefer to work with.
If it were me I'd tell them to get that Red AV here ASAP.
