Hello,
My air bag light is coming on and off randomly.
My scanner showed an Airbag code of B0029.
"Passenger side open loop"

Does anybody have experience with this?
Does anybody know what the likely culprit is and where I should investigate?

I checked the wiring under the passenger seat, and it looks secure, I cleaned them up with electrical spray, and put them back together.

Other than that, does anybody know what would cause this?
I thought perhaps the front bumper sensor on the passenger side could be the problem, but I don't have a lot of experience in this department.

I saw some threads mention a side seat airbag, but I am pretty sure my 03 Chevy avalanche doesn't have this option, nor am I familiar with any avalanche of this year having a side seat bag.

Thank you

All I can tell ya is check the wiring very carefully and yes my 03 does have side air bags

When my 2003 Z-66 did this last year, I found the problem was a wiring break inside the wiring cover right at one of the connectors under the passenger seat.

I had to take the seat out and trace down each wire to find the break.

I had to carefully pierce each wire along the way from point A to point B and I found the break right at the point where one of the wires entered the connector.

The wiring cover was not broken and that made the problem more difficult to find.

I was able to carefully remove the pin from the connector and solder that wire to that pin and reinsert.

It was some tedious troubleshooting, but no more airbag errors.
