I would like to get a new intake for my truck.  I'm sure everyone has an opinion on which is best.  I do have some concerns though.

I build homes for a living and am constantly in dirty conditions.  I have concerns about an exposed filter 'cause I don't want to be constantly cleaning it.  I think I'd like something enclosed like the Volant Kit.

What kind of performance has everyone noticed with theirs?  Noise level is a concern as well.  I do have a dual exhaust which will help it breath better so I'm guessing the noise might be amplified a bit.

Please let  me know what you guys think.

Well, I can only comment on the one i purchased which is the "Green" air intake kit, i got that and a magnaflow exhaust exhaust done at the same time and I have notice a nice increase in performance.

This is not an easy question to answer. They will get dirty no doubt cleaning can be a real hassle. Pros & cons on all, but there is a foam filter that fits into the factory airbox that is oiled called True Flow. With their filter you also get new intake tube to throttle body. This one is probably pretty quiet as well. As for me I went to auto zone and just got the k & n drop in replacement filter.

I wish I had a better answer to give you. Check out the facts on the foam one you may be surprised. Although the COOL FACTOR usually plays into any decision....

Oh ya I have narrowed my choices down to Volant and Outlaw. I would allready have one but this little thing called complete cat back exhaust kinda put a dent in my toy purchases.

Good Luck

maybe run an open element with a sand guard on top??

Now that you mention tha K & N, Air Aid, and some others do make a cloth cover for their filters I am sure he can find pics on their websites

So if I were to take open box filters into consideration then what favorites would anybody like to boast about?

I had a Volant on F350 Powerstroke and loved it.
