My 2011 Ava was making noise from air pump...then it quit. Any recommendations on a new pump? Or any good ideas to help out?

First welcome to the website!
I assume you have an LTZ model AV....the pump will make a noise at start up to test system then quiet down. If it constantly runs you may have a leak or problem with your suspension. You should read the older threads about the LTZ suspension for info and tips. Most members hate the expense of replacement with GM parts but it gives less problems with error codes being set off. Others use a replacement system by Arnott. Some try to replace with stock shocks but that usually leads to an inferior ride and error codes appearing in your dash.

Yes it is an LTZ. And thank you for the tips. I can't figure out how to post a pic of it yet but have a fine photo to share when I do.

Put it in your MEDIA ALBUM.

Welcome!

Just went through both of the issues you're describing lol... You can't post pics until you've made 10 posts... I was on here for a couple years before I made my first post last fall.

My compressor went out about a year ago and I didn't even consider switching to conventional shocks. I had no leaks in my rear air bladders, though I do expect them to go sooner or later because they've got 140k miles on the curviest roads in the country, and when they do I'll upgrade them also. As long as your shock bladders are good now (and you can test them with an air compressor blow gun) upgrading your compressor is less expensive and easier to install. The first 5+ years I owned my Av it had the stock 130? PSI compressor chugging the rear end up in the air for 20-30 seconds every so often. Now with the 270psi I replaced it with I get about a 5-6 second vrrrrrrr buzz and it's done. Whatever you decide, good luck and welcome. This is the only forum I've ever been on that doesn't really have many rude or mean people, and it's kind of refreshing. You may get some "there's tons of threads about that in the archives" answers but honestly, most of the time, looking them up and researching them yourself vs someone just telling you the solution makes you a smarter/better DIY'r, parts changer, mechanic, etc..

Here's the link of compressor I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2FGV69/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Make a few more posts in this forum and when you see that you are a "Full Member", then the insert image button will magically appear for you.
