Alignment Issue

Hitting a pothole or curb can easily knock an alignment out.

Broken brake hose or sticking caliper can also cause it to pull to one side, as can a bad tire.

well ur supposed to have it checked at least once a year... maybe your year ended early...

"but a  bad jolt, such as hitting a pothole, can throw your front end out of alignment even if you had it checked an hour earlier."

There's also the potential with big tires to have issues, and of course depending on your mileage,a tie rod end, ball joint, drag link, idler arm, pittman arm, etc. may now be worn notably, causing an alignment issue.

Normally when I make a sharp left turn I hear a grinding noise would that be my steering shaft?

No, that could be a CV/Axle issue
