Almost ready to pull the trigger...

First off, great forum! I have learned quite a few things here since finding this place. My lease is up on my 2002 Silverado, and after much consideration, I'm just about ready to plunge into a 2004 Avalanche. I have been haggling back and forth quite a bit with 3 dealers on pricing, payment, etc..so I'm not sure how long the process will take to complete.
I am looking at the WBH package, with fender flares, Z71 package, Leather, sunroof, bars, the works. List is 42890.00 and we are down around 37 right now. I'm thinking 35 is the number I should be at. We're stuck there right now. I have seen some general posts on pricing, but its obvious that GM, Ford, Dodge, etc are NOT moving vehicles, and its a buyers market out there.
My first mod is going to be some 22 inch rims, since the factory rims and tires look absolutely PUNY on this vehicle. I have to hand it to Dodge for being a forward thinker and putting 20's on their trucks from the factory- it really makes that truck.
I'm concerned about the 22's on the Avalanche, though. I have read in many forums where the 22's on many vehicles may cause a need to upgrade to bigger brakes. I'm not sure why that is so. Can anyone comment on this?
I was also curious about the blind spot behind the Avalanche- it certainly can't be too much worse than an extended cab Z71 as far as B/U view can it?

I think w/ 22's on any vehicle you will notice the difference on brakes. Should be upgraded, butmany do not. As fay as the blind spot, it is bad. Still love the AV too much to have this bother me. I just installed a backup camera. Baackup sensors will work also. But again, many people do fine without. Good luck on your purchase, and welcome to the club (y)

Pull that trigger! Nothing else is close. You should get it at invoice minus the rebates, or somewhere close.

Go to edmunds and cars.com and build you an Av. Submit this to as many dealers as you can. They will send you back quotes that you can use against each other. Internet sales managers or fleet sales managers usually don't dic around with the price like the salesmen. The biggest thing they screw you on is the trade - which you don't have to worry about.

If you lease, go to leasecompare.com and enter in the vehicle information, miles per year, and length. Those rates are awesome (they are from US Bank - who all the lease companies use)! You can cut out the middleman altogether. That model you are looking at should be down to around 34,500 if they still have the powerpack discount, and rebate. Should lease for under $500 mo. 48 months. The WBH is a hot item right now, so they might be ramping up the prices. Good luck.

Pull the trigger!

My 04' Black WBH is a month old this week. 2450miles
and all is well. First new truck I've had in a long time
that did not have some initial teething problems.

Rear visibility is definitly worse than when I had extended or crew regular pickups. Not so much the sail panels, as the height of the tailgate. Small cars disappear. You get used to it, and in tight parking lots I just back into the space. Don't let it bother you.

The issue with brakes and 22+ wheels is that the weight of the wheel is moved farther from the axis point. More strain on the brakes due to the rotational leverage. Lots of guys run 22's with stock brakes, but most when pushed admit a deterioration in hard braking. But the upgrade rotors etc. are an easy
(but pricy) upgrade. I'm gonna do 20's myself.

I went WBH w/o the flare and molding package. Some think its too bare, just looks clean to me. To each his own.

Pull the trigger....... you're gonna love it!

Pull the trigger....

But, if unsure about blindspot do a GM 24hr test drive. You get to take the truck home/anywher for 24 hrs. See how it fits in the garage, try backing it up, etc.

As said before, there is a blind spot, but the Avy is worth it.

:0: In order to see if you're getting a good geal, go to carsdirect.com and plug in your specs or get it close to the same model with a similar MSRP. Make your dealer beat that price.

Maybe, he should wait for the Honda as it might come with 22's and no blind spot. But, I don't think he needs any help in delaying "pulling the trigger". Nothings perfect. The AV fit my needs like nothing on market & in the planned future, that I know of.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I am down to 34,230 out the door as of tonight, plus free oil changes and 2 alignments for a year. I'm thinking its a pretty good deal.

Thanks for clarifying about the 22's...I may go with 20's just to keep from having to upgrade the brakes. Then again, I love to tweak, so the Eradispeed+1 upgrade looks fun.

Hopefully, I can post some pics for everyone soon.

Thanks again!
