Well, I finally got a job ;D and will have money to continue my audio upgrades. Next step is a new HU.

I've read a lot of good things about Alpine. I'd really like to get one with MP3 playback like the CDA-9827 or 9807. Does anyone have one of these units and would like to comment on it? My main questions are:

- Are the units easy to navigate through MP3's. Can you find your songs easily.

- Does the MP3 song title get truncated on the display or does the display scroll the title?

- Can you do play lists? (I doubt it but I had to ask).

Thanks.

Hey Little Bear,

I have the 9813. I love it.

Also if you are going to buy Alpine stuff
may I suggest going thru Ebay..I've
had alot of luck with buying it thru
this method and have literally saved
hundreds this way.. If you do want
a warranty then go thru a dealer
I would try to negotiate a little
though.. Just my 2 cents..

Anyway I really like it for
Mp3s. To answer your
question it scrolls thru
the name and title.. It actually
doesn't do this for XM which is
weird but I guess that has
to do with the XM programming band...

They are not too bad to navigate thru
MP3s... Whenever I burn a disc I put different
genres in different folders that seems
to really be good for this player. Once
you get the hang of it you can change
folders fairly easily.. When i first got
it I had problems switching songs and
folders but now that I've had it awhile its
second nature to me..

It does take some getting used to..
The H/U is a bit daunting at first because
it is so powerful but overall you will
really love it... It has so many features
in it. I really enjoy my alpine.

If you are still deciding on this I would go to a
circuit city or bestbuy and play a bit with the
floor models. See what you think.

My girl has a changer in her truck but
I really relish the fact that I can have 400
songs on one cd and never run out of music!
;D

Hope this helps!

Aetatis.
