I understand that the Z-66 models come with an aluminum driveshaft. Is this correct?

Does anyone know any reason why I wouldn't be able to swap one of these into my Z-71?

Also, does anyone have part numbers/prices?

My truck is an '02.

I don't know about the Z-66 having an aluminum driveshaft but even if it does I don't think it would interchange with the Z-71. The Z-71 having a transfer case after the transmission should have a shorter driveshaft than the Z-66 does. This is just a guess on my part, I haven't actually taken any physical measurements.

Right, the transfer case indeed would shorten the shaft. Not a direct swap.

The aluminum shaft is likely also not used on the Z71 for strength as well as potential harmonic issues to the transfer case and all with the potential and intended heavier use.
