AMBERS 101 - ATTENTION NEWBIES - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AMBERS

Well the 1st mod is done!  The Amber's are in, it was pretty easy compaired to the instructions in the beginning of this thread.  I took the 6 10mm bolts out along the top of the grille and the 2 at the top of the headlights.  I was able then to get my arm down in behind the grille and pull the top of the headlight out a bit and get the drl's out and changed.  I was done in about 15 to 20 minutes. (y).  Now on to the maglite mod when my clips arrive.  So if you see a Blue Topaz with Amber's in it around South Bend that's me.

Just changed mine on my 2013...basically the same as my 07.

You have to check local laws as blue forward-facing lights may not be legal

Yes, in many areas, any blue lights are not legal, as well as forward facing red lights. People could confuse them with emergency vehicles.

And you have to check not just local laws, but the laws of everywhere you plan to go. While driver licensing and vehicle registrations are generally subject to reciprocity between states (ie: if you're legal in your state you're legal in other states even if they have different requirements) equipment laws generally are not reciprocal. So you can have your vehicle equipped legally in your state, but if you cross over into another state you are subject to their equipment laws. Blue lights are often a touchy subject with law enforcement, because they may intrepret it as your attempt at police impersonation.

I was thinking more of a blue tint rather than like blue blue like the ones on emergency vehicles but as im thinking about it ambers sound good :beating:

i just decided togo with just straight amber lights these match the turn signals good and i did the ft drl mod along with all light on high but didnt have them on in this pic so tada :)

I already said "Props", I just didn't post it!  :p

So I'll settle for the second to say it (officially!)

Be sure to post pics of you Ambers and FTDRL mods!
Ohhhh getting technical now haha  either way happy there's another avy todo it!

Ambers were my fourth mod!  First I did the lows on high and ftdrl mods.  Next I decided (after being pulled over for having lights that were too blue at 8k) to ditch the el cheapo xentec hid system that the previous owner had installed - so that was technically undoing a mod.  Having fogs on next to the amber drl's looks awesome on my black 2006 Avy.

I will get a better picture later, but hoping to see if I can upload a picture here of my ambers and lows on high

Haven't gotten around to doing the amber DRL's yet.  Just received a gift card from Amazon for Christmas, so I just ordered a set of amber LED's for my DRL's.  Looking forward to this little MOD.

So I got the Amber LEDs in the mail today and got them installed. Wish I could say how they look. They aren't working. I can't remember if the old bulbs were working or not. Checked the fuse box and the fuse looks fine, but didn't pull the fuse or put a meter on it. Plan on checking into it more tomorrow when it is light out again.
I was ready that with DRLs, only the DRLs are on, but with my Av the low-beam headlights are on.
During the install the old bulbs were a pain to get out and a bit corroded. Thinking I'm going to get some electrical grease to put it the sockets.
Please feel free to give trouble shooting tips.

If your low beams are on, DRL will not come on in a stock setup. Are you saying your low beams are always on?
